Losing weight: Socialising?

Get yourself an old tart, ten years or a bit more older than you and one that hasn't had it for a long while (that you know too).

I had a weight problem that started creeping up because of the booze but banging an eager old tart helped and after eight months when I gave her the elbow I was in pretty good shape.

Just yesterday (don't know why) I decided I'm going to have a month or 2 off drinking alcohol as I feel I'm drinking too much, probably 4 bottles of London pride during the week (not at once) then a truly awful amount on a sat I.e 10 pints and prob half a litre of vodka (easy to do if you start at 6pm and stop at 4am).

I'm interested to see if I loose weight especially with not eating my hangover dominoes, everyone says how much they loose when they stop booze.... I will probably replace it with taking the GF (me) out for meals though :D

I'll stay fat then thanks. 10 pints was an exaggeration in case you couldn't tell. I have pints at the weekend as do my mates but they and aren't fat so presumably it can be done.

Probably more due to age and genetics, but trust me it will catch up with them.

Also unless you are medically overweight and it affects your health, stuff it. Go out and enjoy life and pick up the odd slapper and work a few calories off in a drunken haze :D

Your only idea of socialising is going out and drinking 10 pints? Come on man... pathetic.

Get better friends.
Get a hobby (preferably one involving some outdoor activity, bonus points for a social one).
Learn to moderate your drinking?

Alternatively if you must socialise in unhealthy circumstances and still perversely want to lose weight, befriend a few cocaine dealers...

There's a crapload of empty calories in alcohol that has no use to your body except straight onto the liver and fat deposits. Perhaps exercise during the week if you want to drink pints every weekend. Don't bother working out after you drink though because it'll do absolutely nothing.

Grow up.

Or get more mature friends. Ones who understand that not drinking ten pints doesn't make you gay.

This, so many times this.

When i go out we go out to enjoy ourselves, we may sometimes drink a lot -but people aren't lesser for not drinking as much as you or at all.

Sure there may be some banter, but that's all it is banter between friends.

If you feel that you need to drink to socialise then perhaps it's time to shake up your social circle.

Exercise harder and eat less - there are 200 calories in a pint of beer so you just have to burn off/eat 2,000 fewer calories a week to account for that intake. Add in a kebab at 1,500 calories (if it's a proper kebab) and basically on Friday night you eat/drink a pound of fat. Nice

Really it doesn't matter what you drink, or even if drink is the problem... the crux of it is the time-old problem: you want to consume nice and unhealthy things without doing any physical work to pay them off. That's going to catch up on you. If you want to live a lifestyle where you can drink 10 pints every weekend, then you better be prepared to run 10+ miles during the week to keep on top of that balance. Otherwise it will catch up with you.

Or of course the alternative cop-out to this problem, as said above, is just to throw caution to the wind and keep on burying yourself in bad health. It's your life.

I'm a big drinker, how do I go to the pub on a Friday or Saturday night and order anything other than 10 pints without looking like a bender?

What are your experiences with socialising while trying to lose weight? Can it be done? Is it best to leave my lifestyle alone and find a way to lose weight that fits in with it?

10 shots of vodka?
