not sure if this is right place for post
anyway can anyone explain to me why using asus ssd cache feature on x79 mobo results in loss of disk space?
i had a intel 520 180gb and a seagate 500gb(sata 2)when i enabled asus ssd cache upon installing windows i had 1 hard drive of about 275gb to install on,so ive lost 360gb of storage!
is that right? i dont understand too much about ssd caching but i thought it basically set up raid 0 which i understood to be 180gb+500gb as one drive, id rather have the 360gb back than slight performance increase
any help on this would be appreciated

see the post below to give you more info...Asus caching is basically based on the Marvell Hyperduo functionality and as far I know the ASUS install interface will enable Caching in Safe mode as default (not sure if you have a choice in the ASUS software when enabling Caching). If that's the case you loose your capacity of the SSD completely, but this should also be easy to reverse without any loss of data (....famous last words). I'm using an old Vertex 128GB SSD to cache my current data drive (my system drive is already on a separate SSD) and I'm really happy with the performance difference this makes.

You can also find more information when you Google the words Marvell&Hyperduo

thx for ur response,as for enabling asus caching u dont get any options, its kinda idiot proof! while i can accept the loss of the ssd`s disk space for the performance i dont understand why it would take equal amount from the hdd? going to read the link u sent many thx for ur help
