Hi.

Had to reinstall Windows recently and lost my overclock settings. I managed to get my overclock back after some googling but I've lost the correct Intel Speedstep functions in the Bios. I've tried enabling Speedstep but I must be missing somethnig because my i5200k is not ramping down when idle. It's just stuck at 4.5GHz all the time. System is stable but I don't want my CPU maxed all the time.

What settings do I need to tweak in my BIOS to get Speedstep working again? My hardware is in my sig but if you need more info I can post it up. I have the ASUS UEFI Bios on my Mobo.

It's enabled but still not working:

What about C-States, turbo and within windows power settings what is your minimum processor state?

Can you take a screenshot of the AI tweaker page as that is where most of the OC settings are.

it wont work if your using a fixed cpu voltage, you need to use cpu offset for it to downclock at idle

try offset
then medium loadline calibration
then set +0.040v in cpu offset, stress cpu and look to see what load cpu v is in cpu-z and adjust offset if to high or low

Ok, tried the above and still not working. Here's what settings I have now:

see where it says cpu voltage (manual mode?) change it to offset then in offset make sure its +0.040v

also make sure the first two digits are 0 so not to overvolt the cpu so +0.040v,set loadline calibration to medium aswell

your still in manual cpu voltage hence why its not downclocking

Sorry I uploaded the wrong Screenshot. I've edited above post to show my current offset settings.

that's what I can see, need to change it to offset

change it to that but put +0.040v instead of +0.005

Wazza, look again at Post8 as I have edited it, the first image, It shows the offset I have just added. Is this right?

ahh yeah that's right,is it downclocking now?

EDIT: whats epu power saving? not sure if I have that enabled without restarting and looking, also look in windows power saving options now and select balanced windows profile

look in windows/powersaving makesure your on balanced profile

then see if it downclocks,if not look in bios ohh I forgot make sure c3/c6 are enabled rather than on auto,it wont downclock if left on auto now,it used to

search the bios for c3/c6 they are pretty hidden

You da man Wazza :D Changed to Balanced Power Saving in Windows settings and it's ramping down now. Thanks for your help.

make sure the cpu v isn't too high, stress cpu while looking in cpu-z it will show your load voltage

then adjust the offset to raise or lower cpu v,i reckon around the 1.35v at load mark for 4.5ghz
