Hey folks,

I have recently setup my 2 x 36GB Raptors in RAID0 for an OS drive using Win7, I spent all evening yesterday getting all my drivers and benchmarking apps installed, and I was trying to o/c my chip today, trying to hit 4GHz, and it failed, so I went back into the BIOS and loaded my profile for 3.8GHz, anyway, I forgot that I created this profile before I was using my RAID0 array, so RAID wasn't enabled obviously..

Anyway, it attempted to boot to just one of the Raptors, and because there isn't an OS installed on the single drive it failed, so I thought it would just be a case of going back into the BIOS and enabling RAID function to get it working again, but now it is only seeing 1 of the drives as RAID enabled!!

Does anyone know what I can do to repair this broken array??

Any help would be much appreciated.. I have tried pressing ctrl + I when the system starts up to see if there is anything in the RAID matrix screen for repairing my array but I couldn't see anything there.. this is the first time I have ever tried using a RAID config in my PC, I hope that I haven't lost everything!!!

Thanks in advance..

Scratch this thread, I just went and rebuilt my array and reinstalled Win7..

I am pretty sure there must have been a way I could have fixed it, but I couldn't find any info online that was of any help, so I just started from scratch again...

What would be the best way to make a backup of my OS so that if anything happens like this again, I can just quickly get everything up and running again?

as long as none of the data was overwritten, there should have been a way to "Import foreign array" in the raid bios that would have picked them up.

I have not heard of 'import foreign array' and do think it odd that yer BIOS could only see one of the HDD's in the RAID.

The reason I am posting is to ask why nobody ever recommends the actual Windows Backup utility over Acronis. I have never used Acronis so am wanting to know what all the fuss is about.

To OP glad you got yer system back up and running.:)

You probably could've just added the missing drive back to the array. A 2 drive RAID0 array with a missing drive would be regarded as broken anyway.

Not really sure TBH. For one thing though, XP doesn't have it, and there's a surprising number of people still running it. I think I used it once but I can't remember how it went and whether it worked or not, so.. meh, lol. Give the Windows one a try, see how it goes :p
