wouldn't say i never play them again, i just get borted very easily. Typing this I have just realised my Crackdown save (with maxed out abilities on everything) is now gone. Balls if i cba to do that again ;)

Hmmm, if that happened to me I'd probably sell all my games and get a fresh batch!

Ugh... Its bringing back how I felt when it happened to me :( I wouldn't say you need to worry though, you're gamerscore shows that you're an uber l33t pro not the game saves :p

After having a look through my games played and corrupted saves below are the ones im most peeved about:

  1. E2017 - 40 hours gone (4700 Stamina, 164 weapons, hardest nearly beaten)
  2. MUA - so so close to 4000 kills, have several characters levelled up very high, loads of credits too - all gone
  3. Crackdown - had character maxxed out abilities.
  4. Was going to re-play Dead Rising now i have a HD style set up. Character was at level 50 too - pretty much all extras unlocked too. needed one item for the full megaman suit, had megablaster etc. sigh. Probably put another 30 odd hours into this as i needed to play through the game several times. :( :( :(
Anyway, they are saves i'm most devasted about. Know for a fact i'll be working on EDF2017 again in the comming weeks, as for the rest i'll just have to bite the bullet

I own 10 games at the moment, with 5 of those constantly being swapped/traded in etc. There are a few i'd never sell, evah! :)

the only game i have EVER been bothered to 're'-complete was halo 1 when i switched between xbox and xbox 360, havnt even bothered doing halo 2 again :o

unlucky for you mate, but at the end of the day it is only a game when all said and done

Thats exactly what i tried mate. After reading a bit on the xbox.com forums it seems that the saves are linked to the one instance of your profile - as each profile you create has a different hash generated to it. So if i was recover my profile again it follows my new saves since would be corrupt again. Please correct me if im wrong and there is another way of doing it im missing. :)

Well the other day I was experimenting with something. I moved my profile from my hard drive to my memory card (leaving behind all my savegames on the hard drive) then I recovered my gamertag on the console with the memory card removed. When I signed into the profile all of my save games were (and still are) available.

So yes, the savegames are linked to your profile in one way or another, but in my experience, recovering the profile should still let you use the savegames.

What about the possibility that the 360 died as it was saving your game, therefore rendering the save file corrupt?

Edit: Ok maybe not seeing as you mention some other saves are also corrupt. Weird.

I don't know why your gamertag recovery is taking so long.
I popped over to a friends and used the recovery to drag my id on to his 360 so we could play gears of War co-operatively.
When I got back home I recovered my id again, and both times took no more than 5 minutes. So far all of my saves are unaffected as I would have expected.

The problem with electronics is that when they go, they can cause all kinds of problems, and it's not unusual for other parts of the system to be affected. They are after all, all linked to the same power supply which is massively affected by one aspect of the machine dieing. This unfortunately has consequences for the rest of the system.

I'm not exactly sure what you wanted the poor girl to do, it's not like she can magic your data back, and it's highly likely that they've all been told to admit to as few faults as possible (possibly even none).
