lost my sound after installing libasound2 (1.0.13.1) in Ubuntu Edgy

Hi

I needed to install some packages to get a game to install through synaptic i.e. libsound2 and libsound2-dev. The reason for this is that version 1.0.13.1 wasn't in the repos.

I used gdebi to install the new libsound packages but i think it must have uninstalled some other packages and now my sound doesn't work at all

i assume now that this was the reason it wasn't in the repos

any idea's what to do to sort this out?

Can't you remove the offending package, disable the offending repo and then reinstall by picking it up from a standard repo?
