**Lost Odyssey Official Thread**

I'm just going to see the old sorcerer at the start of disk 2. Never really enjoyed the end of the first disk, enjoyed the battles more and was involved with story.

Never been a huge fan of JRPGs but this is very good so far.

Got this yesterday but didn't get the chance to play it, just started it today and got up to the boss at the grand staff,

It is really hard, you think the first boss would be a bit easier, game seems very good so far, just hope the difficulty level falls a bit,

Also, how bloody hard is it to get perfects with the rings? i always get good but i want the achievement :(
Make sure you have aqua. It really does makes all the difference. I was struggling until I backtracked to pick up aqua.

Where will i find aqua?

I just spent a while grinding trying to get higher then went to fight the boss again, i did much better but still died,

Annoying thing is that when it asked me if i wanted to retry i pressed yes and it put me back at the boss before all my grinding,

So, i turned the b*****d off, I will try again tonight but i am pretty annoyed at the hour i wasted grinding

You can buy it in a 'secret' shop at the Grand Staff Construction Base.
If you go to where there's two guards blocking a ladder on the top left hand side of the base. Talk to the north one first, then walk away and he should move away from where he's blocking. Run in there, move the crate upwards.
Then go to the south guard and talk to him, wait for him to move away, then run by the ladder and push the last crate upwards. You should be able to go down the ladder then where there's a shop :)
Might take a few attempts to do but well worth it.

Sorry if my description was poor :o There's probably a better guide on gamefaqs, I'm rubbish at descriptions like that :p But hopefully you got the gist of it :)

Dont waste your time 'grinding' as the game levels you up differently to other jrpg's

Just started disc 3and only just realised that the level 5 spells actually let u use upto level 5, I actually had level 1, 2, 3 and 4 black/white equiped at the same time :(.

Love the game though, after the fact that Blue Dragon was so easy (a huge let down, started before the patch...) it's quite refreshing that LO is quite tough.

I'm curious about this as some people on the net have been saying if you level too much (power-level) just to beat certain bosses like the 2nd one it wrecks the game later on as the later bosses are too easy. So does it level bosses to your level or is it set? At any rate, I beat the 2nd boss at lvl 16 after a few wipes but did have the mentioned things that help. Putting 2 in the front and that whiney mage guy in the back row helps too, obviously.

Anyway, thoroughly enjoying the game so far, getting near the end of disc 1 I think, nearly 12 hrs in so far, not rushing it. Considering I don't go for jrpgs much and had mostly given up on turn-based rpgs that is saying something! A very nice surprise :)

Planning a nice long sesh of this once im done with cod and watched match of the day
I see early hours of the morning coming!

Only played up until the first boss on the mountain but loving it so far. The cutscenes are absolutely amazing, and I was rolling with laughter at Jasper's drunken one. The quality of writing in the "Thousand Years of Dreams" segments is excellent, and extremely touching. The only problem I have is that I spent over an hour last night trying to beat that damned first boss, but think I've worked out the tactic (I figured it last night during battle but didn't stick to it long enough). Really looking forward to getting back to it later.....I'm gonna cheer the damn house down when I finally fell that beast!

The game levels you up to what it thinks you should be for each area. You always need 100exp points to reach the next level, so if you are underlevelled then you will gain 100exp after each battle until you are at the correct level.
If you are already at the right level then you will only gain 1 or 2 points each battle, so it would take 50/100 battles to gain a level.

I am at the village now, just starting to head to gohtza.

This is a very very good RPG :)

If only most developers are half as efficient as japanese devs.

well, i'm about 5 hours in at the moment and loving it all. the first boss was a real pain and it took me a number of turns to get a good strategy to defeat him.

Well escaping from the prison in the White Boa is really peeing me off

Too much more of this and the game will be retired to the "Never to be played again bin".
