Lost Planet £3.49 on Steam Weekend Deal 27/02 to 01/03/09

I have it on xbox 360, I lost interest fairly quickly, I did enjoy the cut scenes though :D

Can't argue with £3.50 for a game.

Just a shame the Steam version is not the "Colonies Edition" which I picked up a few weeks ago new and retail for only £7. Could do without the Games For Windows Live crap and use the Steam interface instead.

I for one personally enjoyed this game (Huge mecha fan anyways!). Was definately one of the best looking games when it came out for the Xbox 360, and the PC port is a great indication of Capcom's ability to finally do it decently by themselves. Even the PC version's built-in benchmark is a great tool to stress out your system. Sure control and sensitivity issues may plague the PC version, but it is still playable if you can adapt to it.

I guess with the recent annoucement of Lost Planet 2, they are trying to capitalise on bringing more people to this series so this price is just awesome. Really cannot wait for the sequal as the 4 player online co-op play will be fun and it definately looks to be a much better game. Capcom are investing their resources in this one for sure.

Its strange lately big pc game makers seem to be abandoning pc, and the companies you'd least expect are taking it up. Capcom and squarsoft being the ones taking it up that come to mind right now. Lionhead and epic being ones to give it up.

Well one major difference there is being that Capcom and Square-Enix are Japanese companies and are now trying to branch out to a much more wider audience besides their domestic market or just the Console platforms. Theres like this big talk about how Japanese developers are losing focus of themselves and cannot compete with Western developers these days, so I guess they are trying as much as they can.

purchased, loving these weekend deals that steam do
hefty download on this one though :o

edit : think im gonna download this after the deal has ended, barely managing 100KB/s here

as last i remember it is pretty demanding game , it is like arcade like ?

It is pretty demanding but runs well if you can get the right settings.

And yeah it is quite arcadey, especially once you pilot the mecha, but plays much like any other "old-school" 3rd person shooter.

I thought Lost Planet was brilliant.

It's by no means a ground breaking game, but it's so much fun running around in the snow blasting the bright orange crap out of giant insects! :D

Graphics were some of the best I've seen too, and it ran very well for a port.

Well worth tree fiddy. :)

Would buy it, but virgin think that anyone who wants to download more than a single 100kb .jpeg file are not worthy of the internet, so decide to slash the speed to pre-historic speeds. I could have some run a hard copy of the game over to me from the south pole, quicker than what it would take me to download that on virgin.

Saying that, I may buy it, I'll right up my review for you guys when I've played it.

E.T.A. 2012.

If some of you could bother to get the colonies version which has more content more Optimized than the original & has QuadCore support, you can even set how many cores you want it to run on & you can play against PC & XBOX players on line.

Th steam version that i bought ages ago just sits in the uninstilled list now.
