I am deffo upgrading this summer 100% gauranteed and hoping I will be able to run crysis and Lost Planet perfectly with my 8800GTS.
it runs perfect for me too on the following spec :
xbox 360

:p

i have tryed it on the PC though, ran terribly. HDR on low with everything else at medium and got an average of 21fps

Surely a C2D with 2gb ram and an 8800GTX is beyond the capabilities of an Xbox 360?

After the next generation or 2 after graphics cards proberbly another 2 generations away I wonder if they will have the power to render almost total realistic graphics, so in the next few years wont the red and green teams be focusing on new gaming stuff like virtual reality or something?

without a doubt, but this demo just looks like a straight port

it pretty much is, it asks you to press B on your xbox controller to pick up items.. and A to start the missions lol

also shows pics of xbox controller when changing controls, very early days it seems

yeah thats what made me think that, although lost planet may be one of the 'games for windows' brand. if so it would have native support for the 360 controller

Looks like I'm a bit late to the party but I've just downloaded and played this. I get about 30-40 FPS with all details high and 4xAA+AF at 1920x1080, and it looks AMAZING.

This is really one of the best looking games I've seen. The explosions and smoke are so realistic. And this is just the DX9 version...

Apart from the first mission crashing before I manage to get the that car park place (the second mission plays fine), and having to collect those orange things all the time I think it's a really good game. Definitely looking forward to blasting through the full release.

Those FPS are preety bad due to it been in early stages / a crappy port. Its not so amazing when you notice what FPS your getting because when you try DX10 you could be getting fps as low as 20fps.

With my old rig I got 45fps in DX9 but in DX10 I got 26fps.

Why do people keep saying this is a bad port? It's probably the best port I've seen. If it wasn't for the "Press B" popping up I'd think it was made for the PC.

I also managed to play the first mission without any crashes too. :) That bug at the end takes forever to kill.

Its a straight port. The game is designed to be played with the 360 controller.

Everyone can see why its a bad port when they look at there fps :p

Running at 1920x1200 with 30-40 FPS, on such a good looking game seems fine to me.

It's a much better port than games like THAW, NFS, Rainbow Six Vegas, and Resident Evil 4.

Edit: Remember this is a demo too. They've still got time to squeeze more performance out of it.

Question: I have a DX9 card (x1950 pro) but run in Vista, should I dl the dx10 or dx9 version? The Dx9 versions says for xp only...

To be honest, it's rubbish looking for FPS it achieves. Take all environmental effects clutter like snow, etc out of first plan and you are left with something that looks like pre HL2 game with awkward semi glued to back pack third person console FOV, 1990ies monsters, but runs like badly compiled S.T.A.L.K.E.R. This is living proof why console games should never be ported to PCs.

Yea I suppose. I thought NFS was ok tho. Resident Evil 4? Lol I never went under 60fps on that but hey its one of the worst looking games I have ever seen in my life for a PC.

I find it weird that some people with G80's are getting such bad performance...turn HDR to medium and both shads options to medium, everything else on high and you will get an avg of 60fps+...

DX9 Game runs really well under windows xp, but using the dx10 install under vista it totally blows.

I just did a fresh install of vista HP x64 and of this demo (DX10)

Spec PD 920 @4GHZ

2 GB ram 667 MHz

8800 320mb

IT RUNS LIKE **** :o and I don t no why I get bout 22fps and the rez is 1280 x 1024.

install windows xp m8 ;) runs like a dream on it and looks a lot better!

Would like to hear about ATIs dx10 results, they have to be better than nvidia poor excuse for a dx10 card. I would blame drivers but nvidia has had 4 months to sort this out lol.

The driver excuse is exhausted! ;)
