Lost planet dx10 demo

I think it looks great. The detail and animation of all the beastie is the best I've seen, plus there are loads of them on the screen.

I am only running it on Vista and can't see any difference between the DX10 and DX9 demos. Well, except the frame rates as follows:

DX10
Snow 44
Cave 29

DX9
Snow 53
cave 32

Does it default to DX10 on vista?

I believe there are two demos, one DX9 and the other DX10

Yeah, I have downloaded both demos.

Just read TweaksGuide and it says the DX10 is more "realistic" than the DX9 demo. I am going to run them both again and just look harder.

When I run it I get an error stating invalid resolution 1280x720.
Vista will run a 1280x720 desktop, though only at 60hz.
There is no config file in C: to set the resolution.

help...

Seems pretty cool.

Just ran the performance test. Rig in sig. 1280x960 with 4xAA 16xAF all in game settings on HIGH, bar Shadows which were on Medium.

Snow = 35FPS (Avg)
Cave = 44FPS (Avg)

:)

This is the DX9 version. Tbh it looked quite crisp and sleek. I would hope the DX10, if not a bit nicer, will eventually add a bit more performance. :)

fixed the resolution problem by going back to drivers from February :confused:
1280x960 4x aa default
DX10
Snow = 39FPS (Avg)
Cave = 32FPS (Avg)

I had to run the test at stock speed 575/1.8 as it dies/GPU crash when clocked at 620/1.9 even though DX9 games run all day at this speed, hmm so does DX10 use more of the GPU & create more heat?
Got 43FPS in the snow when clocked though woo hoo... lol

My cave is a bit low, maybe that needs more CPU grunt.
Hope Crysis goes a bit quicker :eek:

The section of core that deals with DX10 code may not overclock as well as the rest, so your stable DX10 overclock might be lower.

When 3DMk07 is released, we'll be able to test our overclocks for DX10 stability.

As I posted, everything maxed with no AA/AF at the 13xx by 7xx res.

Average 59fps, snow 54fps and cave 23fps in DX9.0c, at the building through those caves were the big spider thing came out of the ground was I got around 31fps there with everyhting at max but with 8xAA/AF.

At the start with 4xAA/AF or 2xAA/AF I got around 45fps in the snow, will do some more benchmarking, but I need to do DX10, got it downloaded, will do it tommorow, not happy with the DX9 results tho.

Well that was interesting!

OK it runs like muck, its hardly optimised, and to be fair, capcom have put up a disclaimer on the splash screens to remind us!

Still, it was interesting to see DX10 at work in an actual game. Some nice effects :)

Can somebody post screenshots of the DX10 vs DX9 versions please? Or even just comment on any IQ differences. Cheers. :)

on my system,

I can get 30fps with 1024x res 16xAF 4xaa forced within the control panel.

single card is used because of the vista driver can't support SLI yet on 7 series.

I am having lags during the ice map inside the tunnel room or after an explosion.

this game is ***** awsome all it needs is a better driver support :mad:

just ran my performance test
native resolution is 1280x1024 (19" screen (not got the 24" yet))
the game ran at stock 1280 x 720 (ran performance test straight away no settings changed!)

at an average of 30 fps
lowest was 7 highest was 40ish

spec in sig

directx 10 version installed on vista ultimate!!

any questions!?

27 average now!!
and forgot to mension that the picture has weird square blocks floating randomly all over the screen
if that makes sense!!

It is about the most badl;y optimised thing ever.
I hope they touch it up in the final release, because at the moment it makes Rainbow 6 Vegas seem like a game that was DESIGNED for the PC......

Seems like an OK game!

The effects they have added into the game are like :eek: I mean with it all turned up it was really nice! I sacrificed AA in the DX10 version and it seemed to run fine from that! What annoyed me however is the STUPID resolution for non widescreen users! Then there is the fact everything is linked to the xbox360control still i mean come on.....

Graphics are great and as I said the game is ok! If it gets optimised then it will be very nice indeed.
