So.

In spectacular fail fashion, I left the outer to my Berghaus RG 3in1 coat on the train the other week.

It is pretty much impossible to enter into meaningful dialogue with the train company about this - and lets be honest, someone has taken it by now - so I need to sort out replacing it.

Trouble is, it doesn't look like I can just buy the outer. The Berghaus RG coat on its own doesn't have the zips to zip in the fleece (apparently the correct term is that it isn't interactive?) so it looks like I'm stuck with just buying a whole new 3in1 coat.

is this right? surely people damage their outers and just buy a replacement?

Correct AFAIK.

However, an obvious solution would be to buy a normal outer and just start layering without the zips.

I'd still call the train company/station and enquire. You never know...

Yeah, looks like you'll need to buy another 3 in 1. on the plus side, you'll now have 2 fleeces!

a GTX 780 under each arm will keep you warm, and the frame rates would be awesome in SLI.

Funnily enough, I found an almost new Berghaus outer on the train the other week, some nugget must have forgotten it and I'm looking for somewhere who sell just the inners. Let me know if you find anywhere that sells them separately. Ta!

This happened to another member recently, something about a womanly corridor and finding his coat in the boot of his car.

You should look there. Your car, not his.

Not being funny but, coats (and central heating) in September? (UK Midlands here). Troll thread obv.

Three-in-one type jackets by outdoor companies are typically a waterproof shell, which may be fairly lightweight, then a fleece or insulating layer you can wear underneath which gives you warmth. You can then choose the combination you want to wear based on the weather conditions.

The weather has been wet and dreadful ths weekend, so is exactly the kind of weather you want to be wearing a waterproof shell in. I've worn one myself this weekend as I was out in the rain.

With the OPs predicament, the shell will be the most expensive part, so unlikely they will sell you another one. Your options are either hassle them enough that maybe they will give you a discount on buying a new jacket.... Or if its a really high end expensive one, claim on your insurance if you have cover.
