Lotus E22 Launch Thread

Surely in 10-20 years time they'll be showing this as one of those bizarre F1 car designs that should never really have existed?

Other series' designers must be ****ing themselves at F1 right now :(

Erm, why is one nose prong longer than the other on the Lotus??

They must have real issues finding people to work for them :D that's some **** Photoshop skills right there.

EDIT - HOW WRONG AM I!! Apparently that's how the real nose looks > Scarbs has said "The two tusks are unequal lengths, longer one forms the 9000mm2 tip, the other is also a crash strcuture, both act as Y250 flow conditioners"

Im glad thats been mentioned, I said this in the other thread I cant see how its legal

They will undoubtedly change it before the 1st race anyway .........are they actually allowed to turn up to the first few tests with an illegal nose? I doubt it, but its the FIA we are talking about so you never know:D

The tests are not regulated. Other than passing the crash tests the cars don't have to be legal until they enter a competitive session, which is Q1.

They can test whatever the hell they want. I assume the staggered nose is about the tip being a single point, not two. And I assume it means the regulations stipulate a minimum width of the nose tip, but don't specify that is has to be central? I.e. the long side is the nose, the other is effectively just a crash structure to allow them to pass the frontal crash tests?

Either way, its frigging aweful.
