Lotus launch thread

Am I the only one who is finding Lotus Cars attempt to somehow claim the history of Team Lotus as their own somewhat insulting?

Nope. They've been doing it for years though. 2010 and 2011 was horrifically bad. They had NO connection with Team Lotus and were splashing F1 World Champions everywhere and showing the old F1 cars in the brochures and the like.

They're still trying to persuade everyone that they are the real Lotus team.

And it's ugly. Can only hope their season continues how the last one ended.

True it's not as stepped as the others but it's still absolutely horrendous. The noses all look completely horizontal if you remove the step in there. What will make me laugh is if McLaren have got it right but so far it looks otherwise. We'll have to see what the other remaining teams come up with.

The thing that gets me about the McLaren is that surely the other teams would have gone for the same design if it was better than the stepped nose. The stepped nose is clearly not a natural looking shape and there must be a good reason for adopting it when there was always the option of lowering the tub a la McLaren.

But then perhaps McLaren have got some clever aero going on under the nose/splitter/tea tray that we obviously can't see...

Well they must have something as they're the only team that have had a mid to low nose for the last few years and it's been keeping them at the front. I just find it strange that having a step like that it would act like another wing at high speed, the wind will simply hit it like a brick wall and push the air over the top of the driver which IMO would affect the drag on the rear wing which could I guess give greater top end speed, but then that would negate the point of the DRS.
