Love you ubisoft!

You know what I have completely given up caring about this whole console v pc war :p I don't see the point in arguing over it. Consoles need PC's just like PC's need consoles. I own a "what I consider" and high end PC with custom WC, a PS3, a Xbox 360 and a Nintendo 3DS. Also have an iPhone, iPad and a macbook.

You know what each has their own uses. PC I tend to use as my media suite and PC/online gaming. PS3 - I'l be honest I only bought this because I wanted to play God of War 3 but theres some other nifty games on it. Xbox 360 I have all my Rock Band stuff on it and few other exclusives. My 3DS I tend to play during my commute to work (I get the train to London).

So if a game doesnt come onto a PC thats on a console that I really like the look of meh i'l just get it on my console and play it. If something comes on the PC that isnt released on the consoles whoop I just buy it for my PC.

But the real issue here is: Ubisoft have pretty much declared no PC exclusives if this Creative Director represents Ubisoft's stance on platform choice.

Ubisoft are a major publisher (sure we will get less crap games now on pc :D), and the other big publishers may follow.

I'm sure someone is going to come along and tell me how amazing Valve are and we have nothing to worry about. But I stress we do as that would be effectively pretty much putting all the eggs in one basket. (plus Valve haven't released a great in game for a while now).

Haha pc gaming in decline? jeeeze they really need to take a look at steam and origin. I have a ps3 and 360 but i have 10x as many games on pc! The reason why THERE PC sales declined and got more pirated was because they started cheating the honest customer with DRM. I havent bought a ubisoft game in a very long time for this reason.

You might be right but why would other big publishers follow ? just because one is. The gaming industry is a business. In my opinion a big publisher would sit back and see how Ubisoft do with this "no PC exclusives" approach and see how their sales go.

I honestly cannot ever see companies like EA an such following. But you know I could be wrong.

If anything the PC market has become bigger and more open to the average consumer because PC prices are cheaper than they used to be, PC games are also generally cheaper than console games. Most people will already own a PC because almost everyone feels the need to have one so they can have the internet and emails. Clients and shops like Steam, GoG etc are making online buying of PC games even easier and more accessible to your average consumer without the worry of discs or "complicated" installations. Overall the PC market has gotten better in the last few years imo and more people becoming tech savvy which again opens up the PC gaming market.

+1 Adsta.

If a game I desperately want to play isn't coming to PC I'll play it on whatever it does come out on. It's not the end of the world.

I disagree, I would be gutted if a game that I really wanted came out on console only, I'm hoping mech warrior 5 will not only be on console...

Is piracy not actually wider spread on consoles?

I mean today nearly every PC game has a key code that needs registering online to be able to play, especially online games. I have a few mates who just have 'chiped' consoles and only play copied games. Towards that, most of the console gamers only buy preowned games, because most of the games dont require a key..

He could have worded it better and not sounded like a total douche, but if they can't justify the cost to port it to the PC given their estimated sales figures then that's perfectly reasonable.

To be honest even with all that, consoles sales are still higher and even though console games are still pirated like crazy the ratio of bought to pirated for a console is still lower than it is for the PC. So, random numbers of top of my head, Game A gets pirated 50k times on the PC and 70k times on the 360, but PC version sells another 50k and console version sells 300k. So yeah piracy might be higher on the console, but it still brings in more money.

Which they have decided to combat with introducing online codes for consoles, and they just lap it up with no objection. £10 for a code to play online because it's preowned, awesome eh?

Yeah because people dont pirate console games >_>

This ^ also. People do tend to forget sometimes that console games do get pirated. But also from reading the article I was slightly concerned at the comment "no-one buys pc games"

Understandable in a company the time and money you spend putting into a project should be worth the outcome however the way it has been put isn't very inviting for PC gamers to Ubisoft

Just look around your local supermarket tbh. I find that PC Game sections are non existant and have been for a long period of time. Then if you do happen to find one, it's much much cheaper to order it off the internet and that's if it's a recent game? Most of them are ancient. What amused me the other day was PC World, think it was Modern Warfare 2 at £34.99. I'm not paying that for a game when a new one has just been released. I'd only pay top whack for a game like that if it was something I'd looked forward to and got it within the first week of launching.

I have a PS3 sitting two metres away from my PC (my PC refuses to move any closer as it doesn't want to pick up a disease) and I really don't use the former. I did for FIFA until this year when the PC got an equivalent version and I did absolutely love Heavy Rain but that's about it.

I don't feel comfortable gaming for hours on the console whereas on the PC I do because, without moving, I can easily use the keyboard or mouse for tasks other than gaming and for me both keyboard and mouse are key components which make me feel comfortable.

I'd never have played Heavy Rain had it not been for already owning a PS3 (which came at a reduced cost when I bought my Sony TV in 2008) but I'm glad I did. However, I can't think of any other game bar FIFA 13 (or PES if it gets its act together) that I will buy on a console if there isn't an equivalent PC version. If my PS3 died, I would miss Heavy Rain (oh yeah and Flower) which I intend to play again but that really is it.

EDIT: Used a lot of brackets up there.

Ubisoft are far from Anti PC.

IL2-COD was Steamworks and the new Driver was a damn good PC version. And they are still making decent Ass Creed PC SKU's too.

I actually have started to prefer Ubi over E.A recently.

Just some uneducated dev spouting a load of ****.

If enough people tell Ubi what they want, they will commission it and that is that.

If Ubi say "Your doing this", they are the Publisher, they have the final say, not that douche.
