Love you ubisoft!

I can understand why publishers are losing patience with the PC - it is a pain to releasse a product bug free with all of the different hardware combinations, and piracy is a big problem to. I have been amazed at how many OcUKers pirate most of the games they post about in these forums.

After paying good money for a top end rig, they have the right... right?

I've no idea how many people pirate games around here and I don't want to, there's enough depressing news in modern gaming as it is. The pc community as a whole can be pretty disgusting, but it's no reason to use faulty logic or baseless arguments to explain why you aren't releasing a game.

If they cared more about what they put out, more people would buy it across the board. Putting out rubbish to self-entitled professional moaners is always going to be bad business.

because everyone who activates a game via VPN is a pirate right? ... right?

Ubisoft games are pretty dire nowadays anyway they do not make anything most PC gamers want. Assassins Creed1 was superb IMO eversince apart from Splinter Cell Conviction AFAIC their other PC titles are garbage & not worth my time/money.

Just to kick PC gamers a little more in the teeth  how about this quote from the Ghost Recon producer

http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/11/23/g...-is-a-counter-to-piracy-says-ubisoft-producer

"To the users that are traditionally playing the game by getting it through Pirate Bay, we said, ‘Okay, go ahead guys. This is what you’re asking for. We’ve listened to you – we’re giving you this experience"

Huh? What has that got to do with anything? VPN activation is completely different to piracy (although I would agree it has its own debtable issues).

I mean the people here who are on my Steam friends list, posting in threads about playing various Steamworks games, yet don't have them on their Steam account. I am not the first to notice either. Meanwhile they are also posting in this thread about Ubisoft's stance on piracy. Bunch of hypocrits

Steamworks is a very weak DRM as pirates use that version to circumvent Steam servers which is why you can have friends on Steam who do not even own the game but are still playing its shocking but there you go :(

How do you know whether or not they have a disc tucked away in the draw, but are using the pirate copy of it so it isn't locked to their account if it's crap or they want to sell it on after finishing it (and aren't interested in the achievements)?

Did you ask or assume?

I know it's been said before, but reading articles with quotes from Ubisoft's staff is ****ing me off.

WHEN WILL THESE ***** REALISE THAT DRM DOES NOT, I REPEAT, DOES NOT IN ANYWAY INCONVINIENCE THE PERSON PIRATING THE GAME?! ONLY THE LEGIT CUSTOMERS ARE AFFECTED!

Why are you so defensive? I haven't mentioned any names and I wasn't talking about you anyway.

Meh its only ubisoft, i used to respect them at one point...

I think one of the main motives behined pirteting is well the cost of games right now, most are nothing sort of a rip off ( partically ubisoft titles:p) So I m not too suprised, or that game(etc) is making a lot of money from second hand games( beats copying and going through the hassle of hacked 360s and PS3 etc)which can be optained/done, quite easy to be honest.

My last ubisoft game was....errrrr can't remember. they have made good PC games in their time, and good games in general. However can't justify the price tag... this is (one) of the reasons why people resort to dark methods. same for any other really.

The original article is a complete load of ******.. ALL, and I'll repeat that for the thicker readers *ALL*, games are programmed on a PC of some type, so producing a PC version is next to no problem at all..

And if you think consoles do not have a piracy problem you are as deluded as that articles writers.
