Lovefilm no longer offering game rentals

Just seen this news, was looking at signing up as well for this so I guess that puts an end to that.

Well that's the end of my subscription.

lovefilm have become a bit of a joke to be honest. Their instant streaming service uses silverlight (something even microsoft have given up on), no apps for MS Phone or Android

That said, netflix and hulu (hulu especially) are going the same way

In fact, I actually cancelled my hulu subscription last week

I really hope Microsoft start looking into a video subscription service like they did a couple of years back. They never went through with it due to cost, but they had big ideas. The catalog from MS is immense!

Looks like I'll be downgrading my bank account too, since one of the benefits for the paid account is a Lovefilm subscription - I'd imagine they're going to lose quite a few customers due to this actually...

How's Blockbuster's service?

It says that they won't offer new customers game rentals... I guess they will probably stop getting new titles in as well.

I dont see Lovefilm lasting long after this call, its the main reason people use it myself included because there streaming library is pretty darn rubbish.

I've found their service to be poor anyway so was due to cancel this month.

Note to all cancelling, 100s of online reviews state lovefilm are known to catch you out and try to get 1 last months payment from you. They may ask if you wish to 'keep watching' until the end of the month. Say, NO. Otherwise they charge you at the end of the month too. Sly.

Although, easy solution if through DD payment is just phone your bank and stop the payments. Then ring LF to cancel. Can't get your money then no matter what.

I'll be cancelling once the game rentals are removed. We very rarely watch LoveFilm over Netflix. Even though Netflix took a huge hit their library not long ago, it's still far superior.

How annoying wonder why they're stopping the game rental service. Have been with them for years and never had a problem renting the newest games.
