Anyone use Lovefilm and noticed anything weird? Since the takeover ive had nothing but trouble. I got double billed twice and then this prime bullcrap caused my subscription change and i only got a letter in the door a week or two AFTER i got billed

Now i notice that since i went onto thier website and removed the instant video i never wanted used or asked for im now supposedly renting 2 Blu-Ray discs unlimited for £4 per month??? Are they going to bill me the correct amount a few months down the line if i do not correct them? After all its thier error as its meant to be £7.99 i think :o

Are you getting billed correctly? Ive check my CC statement and its definitely £4 :D

Since what takeover?

The rainforest i cant say the competitor name fully but they now own lovefilm.

Yep I'm on the £4.00 package since cancelling the streaming.

Thankyou mate seems its a general mistake they overlooked! Its 7.99 not 4 quid for unlimited as i looked on the websites, But its hidden away the websites have changed and it took me AGES to find out the real cost. It sucks they messed up everything but the playlists.

So I'm already a Prime user, but I'm not sure I will pay the £50 once my Prime membership expires. So I guess when that happens I need to cancel the streaming too? I must admit, I'm not keen on the new interface - the old one was more intuitive. It is taking a bit of getting used to.

No idea mate its confusing and you should speak to them as i was never a member of prime i just signed up to lovefilm in 2008 or so and used it until those crackpots bought it and starting changing and making me have lovefilm by post and lovefilm instant instead of just one package.

Also i thought prime just went up in price to mandatory include all the streaming? You need to be careful mate and do some googling do not trust them as they were making me pay for things i did not need.

Competitor talk mate best edit that post perhaps. Everyone knows who the rainforest is anyways ;)

OcUK doesn't offer a rental service, so it isn't.

You can use the word Amazon here, when not directly talking about a specific product that OcUK sells. :)

Yes it is £4/month but the weird thing is I can't find any way in the managing membership section on Amazon of changing how many discs you have at once (wanted to check the pricing).
Also a little tip if you don't use amazon instant video (as in don't watch anythng on it) then when you cancel it they detect that you haven't watched anything and you get refunded. So I got my £5.99 back.

In a funny sort of way this change has worked out for the best as it has cut the price from £9.99 to £4. I rarely used streaming due to having ghetto internet.

Is it not just Unlimited now as a basic package? GL finding the info i spent over an hour looking for it and i cant remember where it was hidden on the website. As i said since they did this last month or so it has been AWFUL.

And i never got my £5.99 back but im going to milk the £4 to claw my money back. And that double charge of lovefilm twice must have been a breach of contract surely as they just refund you the money back there is not any mention of what if. Imagine if that put you over your CC limit or something. Granted you should not really be operating so close to the limit but its unauthorized.

Use netflix over lovefilm, but they are one of our customers, they host their ps3 services in our racks ,didnt know anything about a takeover from the forest though

I don't watch streaming services really unless I have to or TV series

Im going to go out on a limb here and say no Netflix suck because as far as i know they have no blu-ray rental service. Online streaming is a complete joke even 4K streams blow.

A real 1080p film is 50GB inc audio so lovefilm offer the only service i know of at that price that gives me the best possible quality. BD 720p kicks 4K streams so bad is it not even funny. But yea they did a quiet takeover in 2012 but this last few months they have been messing with the packages and changing everything to do with amazon prime.

It is no longer LoveFilm...its is now Amazon Prime Instant  (at the imaginative name)

I have the streaming service for £4.99 per month and that hasnt changed, although the overall service has just gone aweful

Example 1:
Amazon bought the rights to Ripper Street a former BBC program, meaning that they are going to make a 3rd series. I decided to give this a watch, so I started watching the first series via the 'new' streaming service. Gets to episode 9 of 10 and it wont let me watch any further due to 'licensing issues'

Example 2:
Leading on from the above, I decided to watch the 2nd series instead, only to see that I have to pay for it!? Wa????????????

Example 3:
They might have added more content, but you have to pay an additional charge to watch any of it. It never asked you to pay for anything when it was LoveFilm (watching through a Kindle or a PS3)

Totally stupid...they have broken something that didnt need changing...

Edit: ALSO! If you have a Prime account at the moment you would have paid £49 (?) for it...expect that price to rise to £79 on renewal. With this you will get the streaming service included. I guess that I can up my subscription so everything is free...but at what cost?

Edit: Cant update my subscription - only option is to take Prime at £79 per year. There is no difference to the service provided on the streaming service if I had full Prime or not...buggers....

Yup prime instant is the streaming bit is it really £4.99 do you not mean £5.99? How can it be correct that £4 is now the lovefilm by post cost for two unlimited blurays a month. the website states its 7.99 or something! The rental cannot be cheaper than streaming theres a mistake somewhere unless this is actually correct.

So if Lovefim Instant is £5.99 and my subscription isn't going up then Lovefilm Disk would have to be set at £4.00. Can't see that happening - absolute bargain if it does.

£4.00 for existing customers only who are already are subscribed to Lovefilm disk.
After the switch new people can't subscribe to Lovefilm disk, & existing Lovefilm Instant customers can't switch to the £4.00 rate, so it doesn't make any difference how much the Lovefilm disk rate is 'officially' set to.

Bottom line is existing customers pay £9.99 overall, no matter proportion of that £9.99 is attributed to disk or instant.

As it's a Lovefilm package you've got, I doubt you would be allowed to cancel the instant part & keep the disk part for £4.00. It'll likely be either £9.99 or cancel.

I used to pay £9.99 for unlimited BD rental and still was so it seems like it actually is £4 and they have not noticed that we have cancelled the streaming and are paying only £4! :D

Britain's largest selection of DVDs and Blu-rays to rent, including new releases, with FREE first class postage both ways. Prime members can receive unlimited discs, two at a time, for £6.99/month after trial.*

*If you're not a Prime or Prime Instant Video member, LOVEFiLM By Post is £7.99/month

I was on 4 discs per month (2 at home) and online for £8.16. It's now gone down to £2.17 for the discs, so with the extra £30 per year on my Prime in due course that will be a total of £4.67. Does seem odd getting four films for cheaper than the naff streaming service.

However I think this is just a short term thing until they wipe out the physical disc service altogether - we already cannot change the level of that service, just cancel it.

Rainforest...amazon....not hardly hiding anything are we :)

My view on lovefilm,i dont pay for it (a friend lets me use it on my ps3) so cant really comment on charges,i think it's a waste of money, there are films on there which i know are available on dvd for £2/£3 and there charging more to rent it,there are old films which are free via normal tele but they charge for them ?

I see the point in having this kind of service but its not for me im afraid, plenty of good stuff on there, but also plenty of toot as well.

I use them and Netflix. Lovefilm has a better selection but has gone totally down hill since the Rainforest takeover.

I use a Samsung Smart Blu-ray to stream. For over a month it refused to work or stream. We got a letter the other say saying they have made changes and it now works. However I continually get buffering problems.

Netflix works fine but Lovefilm or whatever it is just doesn't work well.
