Just installed a 8800gtx today and ran 3dmark06 after installing forceware 158.24 drivers. Got a score of 4051, and a big paragraph in red saying that the drivers i used are not passed by future mark. Please tell me that its a driver issue and have got nothing to do with my hardware. If not whats going on here?

Thanks in advance

I downloaded the latest driver for my 7900gs the other day and ran 3d mark and got 200 less than before. But my score was 4539 with said driver.
I also got warning saying the driver was not recognised as "legitimate", but you should be getting waaaaay above that!
Check the comparisons on the ORB to judge what u should be getting.
Hope u get it sorted cos I'm currently saving for this card!! :D

Did you completely remove all the drivers from your last GPU card before fitting & installing the 8800gtx...

Plus...Check that the AA & AF settings are turned off when running 3dmark...

Well after much tinkering around i went into my bios and turned the settings to its factory settings and see if thats causing the problem. I was about to get into windows when the dreaded "BootMGR missing" problem showed its ugly face, took me an hour to sort that out. Re-installed vista and this time just updated forceware drivers to 158.24 and only installed 3dmark06. Ran it and got 8061 points, thats on stock 1.86Ghz. is that about right? Im gonna overclock the cpu again and see whether the problem was infact with windows. Thanks for your inputs so far. :)

8061 sounds about right (maybe a tiny bit low) but of both the cpu and gfx card are stock then i'd say its ok. I saw a rise of like 3000 points when i overclocked my e6320 from 1.86 to 3.1.

Hmm 8k ish does seem a little low for stock, I think my GTS got that with my E6300 at stock, but post back once you've overclocked and benched again.

ok im stumped. 3dmark crashed @3.4Ghz so i tried 3.2Ghz, got 6091. lowered it to 2.8Ghz it went up to 6609. Came down to 2.1Ghz score went upto 8001. Then @ 1.86Ghz (i.e stock) 8863. What the hell is happening here?

Have you tried other drivers, I just put the new Beta 162.15 on and ran 3D Mark and got 9855 so you should be getting 10000+ with a GTX. I'm running Vista HP 32 by the way.

You mentioned that you reset your bios, are all thermal/speedstep type settings as they should be?

Your system is oced while his is at stock with a lower processor. I would do
as suggested and try other drivers don't know why the higher cpu speeds
are giving lower results maybe a stability problem somewhere in the oc.

Most of the score is the GPU rather than the CPU and his GTX should be able to beat an O/C GTS. Always found that3DMark shuts down if O/C was not stable rather than give low marks. Can you try your card in another rig?

I used the card in my brothers quad core extreme and it gave me a 14020. The card seems to be fine. Another strange thing, i used a lower multi with stock FSB(i.e 6x266) and ran the test at 1680x1050 and got 9031. im gona do a complete system check (includes taking out all major parts, checking cables, PSU, etc and then run some tests with my old 7600Gt. There must be something not right somewhere. The clock 3.4Ghz was stable with prime95 for 13 hours. Dont know whats the problem. Until then please keep posting your suggestions. : :)

With an E6600 at stock I would be expecting more than 10,000 tbh, maybe even 11000, overlocked at 3.4 that rig should be getting around 13000+, with my E6600 at 3.2ghz and my 8800GTS overclocked to 650/2.2ghz I get around 11400 and thats with a GTS.

This thread should give you a reasonable comparison

Thanks for the link, saw an e6300 @3.4 scoring lower than my stock but its not paired with a GTX. Anyway, checked all my hardware components. Nothing is wrong with them. I think its the drivers. Any1 know the best drivers out there for the gtx for vista 64? the new beta 162 are for only xp otherwise would have tried those.

Thanks! The trouble was with the forceware 158.24 drivers. I installed the drivers which came with the card (forceware 100.**) ran 3dmark again on 2.6Ghz and scored 10883. I think thats sounds ok to me. Gonna push it to 3.4Ghz now to see the increase,if any.
