Hello everyone, this weekend I will be upgrading my pc, I am getting a ryzen 3600 and a BS450 tomahawk max MB, the case I am using is a Tesseract Deepcool, I might do some moderate overclocking but nothing too crazy, I need some recommendations for some air coolers that would work on this set up,i woud say my budget is around 40 quid! I would have preference for a easy to install one

It's a noticeable improvement over the likes of the Freezer 34, but for a chip like the 3600 it's probably overkill.

I'd just get the Freezer 34 as it's more than enough for your hardware.

Tesseract Deepcool has 165mm CPU clearance
MSi B450 Tomahawk Max has 95.5mm center CPU to near side of x16 PCIe socket and 52mm center CPU to near side RAM socket.
No idea how tall your RAM is.

Matterhorn Pure B grade is £26.99 normally £34.99

Matterhorn White B grade is £34.99 normally £46.99

With 6x 6mm heatpipes and 120x134x73mm fin area and 500-1500rpm fan Matterhorn is one of the best cooler in it's price range.

ok, asked some friends of mine, a couple recommended me the 212 hyper evo black, personally I am tempted by the artic freezer 34, could anyone tell me what are the main difference between these two?

That's a great price on the Matterhorn tbh, would need to factor in a tube of thermal paste though as I suspect whatever it originally came with will have been used.

Indeed, probably need some TIM with the Matterhorn. Matterhorn is better built and better cooling than 34 or 212. Arctic makes what used to be low-cost coolers, but now that peeps don't realize the difference they are able to sell them for more money even though they are not really worth it.

Good point. According to Alpenfohn website both Pure and White models have AM4 mount.

Call/email OcUK and ask before buying? My guess is both have AM4 mount and OcUK just hasn't updated specs on website.

Just get the Snowman HSF. It's one of the best coolers around and insanely cheap.

Google for where to buy - it's like £15 or around £18 for the RGB version and it is very good. Class leading and almost silent.

Quick look slows is slightly better than stock but not as good as 212 .. which isn't saying much. Snowman has no manufacturers website or any reference of where to go if it doesn't work. Sorry, but I would rather recommend coolers know are good and are backe by companies we know will take care of problems if we have any.

Are you using this cooler? Have you tested it against other know coolers?

You'd need to buy it from a well known Chinese online store, so it'd take a few weeks to arrive from the other side of the planet. Then there's the questionable quality control, and the issues mentioned by doyll to top things off.

I'd spend the few extra bob on the Matterhorn personally, I own the Brocken 2 PCGH from the same company and it's a quality piece of kit. I know they have decent customer support if I needed to go to them, and failing that OCUK could handle any issues.

If there's anything wrong with that Chinese cooler you don't have a Snowballs (pun intended :D) chance in hell of getting things sorted out in a respectable time frame.

No you don't. It actually appears on Rainforest UK frequently but is actually avaialable right now, for a stupid markup, on Rain forest US and can be purchased on the uk auction site with paypal. Pay a couple of quid more and you can get it delivered in the UK.

the unit I purchased for my client was fine for quality but you need to buy thermal grease.

I suggest you watch the review I posted again (or at least actually watch the performance sections once)- the review shows it getting a lot better results than the stock cooler and is comparable to th 212 (I posted after the op said he was considering it) for a vastly cheaper price whilst remaining almost silent.

I'm getting it when I order my 3600 rig after building a 3600 rig for a client.

no I have not benchmarked it against other coolers and neither have you with your suggestions...which cost a lot more. People don't need to have personal experience with things to suggest them - it's essentially how this forum functions.

Found it on the bay, but all the sellers are in Hong Kong, so looking at around 3 weeks delivery.

I personally would rather spend the extra tenner on a Matterhorn on the off-chance I needed some form of customer support (aka a return). It'd be nice if something like that could get stocked in the UK as it might well be a solid piece of kit, you'll have to let us know how it performs for you once you get it.

search snowman cpu coller and it's the second one down for £19.99 in the UK (£14.99 from China) there is an RGB version of this also.

That's cool though if you can grab a B grade Matterhorn and are worried about issues. I was happy with it when I installed it and i'll be getting it for my rig around Black friday ish.
