Hi ppl,

slightly random question here:

When I convert videos to DVD (I use ConvertXToDVD) my CPU usage from that program is only like 20% and will take a certain amount of time.

Why doesn't it use more of the CPU power and do it quicker is my simple question?

Is there anything I can do that will make it quicker or is that simply not how CPUs work with regards to tasks etc.

Spec below in sig

Thanks in advance

I'd imagine that the program isn't multi-threaded so can only use a certain amount of your CPU.
I know the earlier versions of cxtDVD didn't support hyperthreading or more than 2 cores.
Have since stopped using it.
You could download a free trial of another similar piece of software and test?

I've tried the priority and it does nothing.

Good point about the software not using all the threads - might try another program.

any of other ideas welcome and thanks :)
