Yeah nLite is a very good application, I use it to cut XP down to 250 megs, about twice that size after install, and it gives me everything I need.
Things you may want nLite to add, although you'll have to download the latest versions are:
XPize - this changes a lot of the screens in XP to make them look nicer, at no performance hit I have seen.
Kels CPLBonus addons - some handy applications for the Control Panel.
RVM addons - some more handy applications for Windows.
RVM media player 10 addons - think this adds fixes and tweaks to MP10.
RVM update pack - contains all the most recent hotfixes from Microsoft.
After adding the above you can go straight to creating an ISO in nLite, or can work through the different sections to add/remove bits and bobs.
Personally I will create one full XP (with all the extra apps and hotfixes), I will then tweak copies of this until I get an install I like.
It's all pretty easy to use and there is plenty of help out there too.
Scort.
