Hi guys,

I have the 6950XT - Mainly play new world.

But just wanted to know if anyone is having issues where it feels like the GPU will work when it wants?

There at times when i have 200 to 300 fps on new world on very high, then there are times when im on 70 fps but both my GPU and CPU are under 50% which just makes no sense to me??

What i've noticed when im above my monitor refresh rate of 144hz the GPU is normally 70% +

Latest AMD patch was meant to fix this but i feel as it it still an on going issue?

Is there any fixes around it?

You could try going into the AMD software settings and using Radeon Chill to set a min and max frame rate for that game and see if that makes a difference

I am on 99% GPU and the CPU hardly goes above 10%.

Gaming at 3440 x 1440, very high settings with a reference 6950 XT.

Maybe drivers?

Drivers is updated.

1440p Ryzen 7 5800x3d

The latest update of AMD - has mentioned this so its a known issue with DX11 - I keep track of it with MSI afterburner and Im hardly ever ever on 90% on GPU usage.
CPU usage is averaged across cores you'll probably find one thread is at 100 % and holding up the whole show.
Okay but why is my fps only at 60 fps or so and GPU is at 30% ? Then randomly it can go up to 80% and im now on 150fps

Issue follows up in other games?
Dont really play any other demanding game as new world to be fair.

BF1 - Dota2 - football manager - slay the spire - age of empires - brotato all of which im getting 200 to 500fps while gpu is on low usage lol

It might be the game itself, searching around it has weird optimisation issues. Apparently looking up can kill the framerate.

Could try resetting the shader cache in AMD's driver to see if that helps. New World apparently also has its own cache folder so maybe try clearing that too.

Max out the settings.

I have found playing any MMO will have serious dips in fps. People always lie about their mmo fps. They all get fps dips to as low as 60 maybe even lower. Even with the best hardware.

Searching online New World still to have some weird CPU usage problem, but with that said I agree MMO generally would be CPU bottlenecked when at busy areas like towns with lots of structures and characters/players and their animation to render.

It also doesn't help that MMO (their game engines) don't seem to have evolved to use more than at most 4 physical cores, despite a decade has passed. If MMO would properly utilise 8 physical cores usage, players could easily get their frame rate doubled (when GPU is not the limitation/bottleneck).

Its not a CPU usage problem.

Its more a GPU problem. IT seems to want to put in the work when it pleases kind of thing.

But I do agree that it is potentially more of a game issue rather than my GPU or AMD issue.

Despite AMD "fixing low usage on DX11" - I still dont think this has been fixed
