Low Memory

Hi can anyone help me. my new build pc keeps coming up with error message 'low memory' every few days and either tells me close down IE or my graphics drivers go funny and screen goes massive.

Check your task manager for mem usage? How much is being used?

What are your specs

EDIT : And are you running Windows 10? I've actually spent the day freeing up ram space for just cause 3 and are a couple of resource hogs that can be disabled if they are the cause.

This what I can get use 16gb DDR, 980TI, Intel Skylake Intel I7 5820K.

What OS and how big is your system disk/partition?

250GB SSD for OS and 1TB HDD for everything else

Open the run box (Windows key + r) type in services.msc and press ok,

In here on the right side search in the list of items for one called "superfetch" right click it and go onto properties change its startup type to disabled, this currently has a memory leak in W10 and gradually hogs more and more. Turning it off for now should solve this.

No problem

you will need to restart for it to take full effect. I have seen superfetch take upto 12GB ram it gradually gets worse

Your system has no other reason to have issues with lack of memory hence my early blame on this leak

Btw I take it you haven't altered your virtual memory at all as this can also sometimes trigger this.

no problem!!

My ye old lga775 rig benefits the most from it, before turning it off just cause 3 could get its hands on about 800mb ram once it was turned off I could get 3.3gb / my huge 4gb

!
