So I’m preparing for a new project, and I kinda made an upgrade I wasn’t expecting. So I need some DDR4 Ram, 16Gb or 32gb I’m not sure yet. Problem I’m facing is I need it to be below 40mm total height to make sure I don’t run into any radiator clearance issues.

Requirements :
  • Grey, white or black
  • Less than ~40mm total height
  • Doesn’t look like a transformers prop
  • RGB not essential, at all. If it is and works with ASUS then handy dandy
  • 3200Mghz is fine for me. As long as you lot think that’s alright?

Recommendations really, really appreciated as I’m out of touch with this side of things at the moment. Any advice you can offer on my suggested speed of 3200 would be great too. Number one factor though is that height!

If you know of multiple sets please let me know, the more choice the better. Any help at all I’d be very grateful!

Corsair vengeance lpx are 31mm. Just googled itcas it did seem like my ram was low profile as it had to sit under my cpu coolers fan as it protrudes out over my ram.

Edit

Didn't realise BriT posted the same

Brilliant that’s option 1, thanks chaps. Pleased with it? I take it it’s good stuff? It’s to go with an 8700k and a Maximus X Formula.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I also have the Corsair LPX RAM and it has been great.

Team Group are another option, low profile and life time warranty with OCUK.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £298.68 (includes shipping: £8.70)

Thanks man, much appreciated. The gold ones definitely a bit lairy for me, but the grey/black looks nice!

I’m finding myself inexplicably attracted to rainbow chunder at the moment, I take it there’s no RGB ones under 40mm? Closed I’ve found is the Hyper X Predators, and it’s close enough to need careful measuring before committing.

It is fast enough for me at 3200 and clocked to that speed with my motherboard considering ryzen boards have certain compatibility issues with some ram that cap them at certain speeds.

I ordered mine direct from corsair to ensure i got the right serial which matched the compatibility list for my board, which cost more than overclockers but they only sold the hynix type. Was frustrated when i seen it was being shipped from Taiwan on the tracking but actually moved from Taiwan to the UK over the weekend and arrived at my door monday from a late night thursday order. My motherboard took longer being delivered from a uk competitor as overclockers never had one in stock.

Awesome man, glad it worked out for you. Samsung dies then? Was that just for compatibility?

Different serials have either samsung or hynix from what i could make out, with b-diea being the kiddies. I played it safe and paid the extra to make sure i got spmething on the compatability list as i didn't want to fork out around £180 for ram that ended up capped and a waste of money(panicked when they sent me the right serial but different verson number).
I also really wanted G.skill trident z (non rgb) but the ones that were compatable were about £250 since they had samsung b dies in them and glad i never checking heights now as they wouldn't have fit!

I believe hynix were getting better with compatability and not all hynix chips have problems, but a large % do. That's just my inexperienced take on it though.

Added the TUF because of the price, didn't know if you where on a budget or not.

Had to google the Predators height, but they are 42.2mm.

The Gigabyte Aorus RGB are 3.9mm.

Just to add.
I don't do RGB, so not sure if works ok with Asus.

It’s not my style either, I’ll just be setting them to white if I do. I don’t have much case illumination so it would’ve just brightened things UK a bit.

Really appreciate the info and another option man, thank you.

No probs mate. :)

I had the intention of lighting my case as well, but never bothered. The only thing lit is my 1070, Keyboard and mouse (all set to blue to match the power button on my screen :D).

Antec Samsung B-die

Should hit 3200hz easily , might get lucky with 4000hz... But you'll have to do memory timings yourself, least the key 5 and rest to auto

These Antec ones are also under 40mm (3.9cm) and are compatible with Asus Aura Sync

Thanks chaps, Antec memory looks spot on for me! Now to decide whether I go easy XMP and RGB or B-die Samsung. it’s been a looooong time since I messed with memory timings though, been an XMP man for ages. I take it best course of action is look up some tutorials?
