Low profile graphics cards. What's good these days?

As the title suggests, I'm after a reasonably good low profile graphics card to fit in an old ******** HTPC case. My son is after a games console and since I already had an i3 HTPC with 8GB RAM I figured I could upgrade it a little and give him something better with Steam Big Picture mode.

So my question is, what's the best low profile card I could get my hands on for around £100-150 max? The card needs to be able to fit a low profile bracket which I don't mind buying separately if necessary.

Thanks in advance!

Not low-profile? Think the best low-profile gpu you can buy right now is the Zotac ZT-70702-10M GTX 750. Would recommend waiting for something better.

It looks like it's just slightly higher than the PCI bracket itself

It could fit depending on the OP's case.

Thanks very much for the replies guy. To give you a little more info. I'm using a competitor's own branded HTPC case at the moment which is only around 10cm high, give or take a few mm, so the card has to be a true low profile one. They seem to be pretty hard to come by!

It currently has an HD 6670 in it, but I need something with a little more grunt to make sure my son can play some of the titles he likes without compromising performance. Ideally it would need to have a minimum of 2GB of VRAM. I've found a few low profile cards which have a standard sized bracket on them. That obviously won't fit my case, so in some cases the top port on the card is attached via a ribbon cable, so that the taller bracket can be removed and replaced with a lower profile double bracket which places the higher port alongside the other two.

Oh dear, it certainly seems that some people don't quite understand the meaning of low profile in regards to modern graphics cards.

This one is an example of a low profile graphics card. ( yes this is an example only I am not suggesting the opening poster buys one of these.)

shamelessly pinched and rehosted form this very site. :)

There are low profile gaming cards listed on the site but none of them that I can see list the card coming with the low profile bracket.

That's exactly it bru! Some of the low profile cards with the larger brackets have a ribbon cable connecting the top port as I mentioned before. Just like this one...

It's fine if the card is configured like this one because you can remove the larger bracket and fit a low profile one instead.

Hi have an HD7750, still going strong after a few years (althought Id like to upgrade now) - quite tough to find low profile cards it seems).
On researching it seems the 750Ti is the best bet, with fingers crossed on the 950Ti actually being released (and in low profile form).

If it was a choice between those 750ti's or something way less powerful, I'd be using one of those 750ti's Aretak posted using the low profile bracket in the box or no bracket at all.:D

Or I'd get an A10-7850K and MB.
