Morning All,

I have recently aquired a HP DC7600p desktop. (specs below)

Intel Dual Core 2.33Ghz
2GB 666mhz DDR2
160Gb 7200rpm

I am thinking of turning it into a bit of a media PC due to it's small size and becuase it is silent.

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and it runs quite well although Aero isn't so great.

I am going to sub the HDD for a 1TB F3 and put 4GB of 800mhz ram in it.

But i need to get a low profile HD graphics card? What are all my options? It has to be of 'half' length as the rig has small PCI widths!

Also will the standard PSU cope with all that?

Do you need it for any kind of gaming? Or just windows interface + media playback?

Well there may be a few games played TF2 or CSS or something similiar but just need something to make aero run well and have the ability for HD and blue ray play back.

Doesnt look like OCUK will be able to get any more of the 38xx series in, might be able to pick one up elsewhere.

For low profile, this might be worth a look?

Its no powerhouse, but might manage the odd not too demanding game, without breaking the bank.

Or theres Sparkle who make a low profile nVidia 9600GT, and 9800GT. Can't tell you where from tho.

Sapphire HD 4550 512MB DDR3

Looking at getting the above i can get it for £40 including delivery.

I just want to ask a question, my current system gets 3.5 and 3.3 for graphics under Windows 7 64bit would that be why when minimizing windows and restoring them it jerks abit, as i am sure the graphics is the weak point for this system.

Thanks

I don't think that at 3.3 the windows would jerk around... My X800 PRO had no problems with Aero (slight incompatibility glitches aside) and thats pretty old by todays standard.

Try to find the 9600GT that is low profile. Failing that go for 4650 (look for GDDR3 version).

Well it's running at 1920 x 1080 resolution could that be why it jerks a bit baring in mind it is running with onboard graphics.

For example when i minimize a fullscreen application it minimizes in two motions rather than a fluid one.
