Low res on LCD monitor?

I’m still using an old CRT monitor and would really like to upgrade to a large LCD. The problem I face is that because I have poor eye sight I like to run at a lower screen resolution than the “native” screen res of most LCD’s. When you drop them down to a lower res things start to go blocky (even with Windows “Clear type” switched on). Can anyone suggest a monitor that is good at scaling down to 1024X768 or another way around this?

Cheers,

Brian

can you no up the dpi of the typeface settings??

I had to on the 40" tv my wife uses to surf/work on.

If you got a 1920x1200 24in monitor such as this you could switch the resolution down to 960x600. As that is 4x the rative res 4 pixels on the screen will make 1 pixel at that resolution. Therefore you will have a 24in screen which looks like a native 960x600 screen, with 4x larger pixels than before.

You can scale down the resolution to any number you like, but because of the set number of pixels it would not look nearly as good.
