Hi chaps,

Just curious, Does anyone of any low wattage cpu's?

I have been after building a total cack fileserver for a while now (Just as a backup server) and it will definately not be doing anything stressful might be used as an apache server but not for def and so far for this naf package I have got 768mb DDR Ram and that is all...

My main question is that I have been trawling around trying to find for e.g 2Ghx celerons/athlon 1800's etc in the belief that because they are lslow, they must draw less wattage.

Is this correct?

Cheers guys,
Sol :D

The mobile sempron 3300+ has a TDP rating of 25w

I would imagine a C2D e4300 or something with as low of a vcore as possible and underclocked a bit would be very low as well.

In terms of performance/wattage that's probably your best bet...

The newer chips are generally more efficient so they are the ones that have lower wattage ratings.

Also laptop low voltage versions are usually quite efficient but I can't name any off the top of my head.....

Brilliant mate, Will definately look into that now.
Cheers for the list btw, Would prob go for a sempron then tbh...

Core would be a lot nicer but prob a bit more cash than I should spare to the project :D

The sempron is a mobile chip...it's socket 754 but I don't know if desktop motherboards support it since it's a mobile chip? I dunno, someone else might be able to chime in here....
