i have beed told by mr Dr to loose some weight.
to this end ive been on a diet and have start walking(in this good weather we having) to get fit enought to go to the gym.
how ever i am getting a sore lower back when i start to walk after about 3 miles it starts to go away but never really goes away till i stop walking and rest.
was wondering if there any pre walking stuff i can do to stop me getting the sore back or (and i know this will sound silly) am i walking the right way

Stretches, before doing any exercise you should warm up. I assume from the fact that you going walking to get fit your in pretty poor physical condition, the net or more importantly your doctor should be full of guides to warming up and don't just concentrate on stretching you lower back the pain could be caused by a completely different area.

if you are struggling with walking (a sore lower back could be a symptom of this), i would recommend getting into a gym and doing some work on a static bike, rower and xtrainer. these are all lower impact than walking / jogging.

have you thought about your diet? a good diet and some exercise is a great way to kickstart weightloss and fatloss.

good luck, its never nice to be told by a doctor that you need to lose weight :]

Just to add to that, don't stretch a cold muscle! Get the blood moving first before stretching.
