Lowering idle clocks further with nVidia cards.

Hi,

I was wondering what are the steps to lower the idle clocks for when in 2d mode so that they are below the default factory settings? At the moment in Afterburner it reads :

Core clock 410

Shader 820

Memory 950

I used to do this with my previous card which was ATI graphics card. It's hard to remember though I think I had the clocks set to something like 250 for core and memory. Is the process the same?

Thanks.

thats very high for 2D

my 580 is

Core: 51
Shader: 101
Memory: 135

You got 2 or more monitors attached?

I dont think you can mess with the default 2D clocks on NVidia cards like you could in the ACE file on ATI.

Your best best (if u do have multi monitor) is to get yourself a cheap 2nd card and run the secodn monitor off that.

No, just one. It's a SOC model if that is of any use, temps are very good, 44C with 30% fan. I assumed it was just a factory default setting, e.g. like with my 4870X2 the core / memory for 2d (before I lowered them) was 507 / 500.

To modify idle settings further you might need to modify the BIOS or find an application that can force lower clocks on a 2D/3D basis. ATI Tray Tools worked on my HD4890 but I'm unsure if it works with Nvidia cards.

same idle clocks as my 580

Sorted now :

51 core / 101 shader / memory 135. (Makes the lower idle clocks with the 4840X2 seen really high).

Thanks for the suggestions. :)
