Lowering springs on factory shocks - a bad idea?

I should imagine that it would make such a small difference that it has been balanced out by the box of clutter I removed from it earlier today. :)

Was there no lower factory option of your car you could perhaps source springs off :) ? Always an idea.. If not 30mm drop it and your away once its settled fine it may be abit harder my rides hard on vxr springs but i prefer it

Have stuck up a wanted thread on ClubPolo for some more decent ones. Going to fit them myself with the help of a family friend & his workshop to save the fitting cost.

Would like something like Weitecs, but does anyone know if V-Maxx's are much of an improvement over FK / JOM? They are around twice as much but have read that theyre not much different?

Stripping out?
How far you going? :D

Went for an MOT like that. Loved the check sheet...
No rear seatbelts... nb no rear seats :p should have kept it but couldn't afford to :(

Needs moar hole saw tbh. :D

My old mk1 golf 1.8T was like that, but I was commuting in it too... through winter. Don't do that.
This one I'll start at the weekend (unless the wife has made plans for us, so prob not) and hope to have it about the same too. :D

35MM H&R lowering springs on brand new genuine Sachs shocks (original equipment on 9N3 Polo) seems like a not-bad idea?

So the shocks will travel the amount the lowered suspension makes them travel from new, rather than pushing 12 year old shocks further than they have ever been before, probably onto corroded/rusty territory which slowly kills the seals?

Selling for far below retail with other offers applied and free postage...

e; might get some Koni STR.T's or KYB Ultra SR's with Eibach Sportlines or H&R's actually...

Bought some nearly new AP coilovers for a good price :)

All you suspension purists can now sleep at night. :p

(if anyone says "AP? To be honest any suspension under £1000 will be crap" you'll get a slap.)

AP are the higher end/priced budget ones and what I'll probably end up with on my mk2 Golf so it's good to see you've bought a half decent brand. Also good to see you've bought a full set of matched kit and also I'm guessing you've not gone for a huge drop.

Now you just need to get the jack out and get fitting.

I was going to get it fitted by my mechanic for £150 but have been toying with the idea of doing it myself.

Only thing is, I'd want him to make sure it is all set up right after I've done it myself anyway. Which wouldn't be free. :p

As for the extent of the drop, it won't be massive. But it won't be hugely subtle either. Somewhere between 35 or 40mm I suppose.
