Lowering springs

In all honesty i can see what you mean by it not looking any different from the stock springs!

Hopefully it'll settle. It's quite low to begin with. Certainly not as bad as stock Ford cars.
 
The lights are standard on some corsas, just the way the pitcure has been taken.

Looks a decent ride height. £177 is steep though. Can get a set of Ebiach springs for the Astra for £140.

A lot of 40mm lowering springs actually lower them about 40", lol.

I've got G-Max on my car, took a couple of days to settle properly. Quite an even ride height all round actually.

I'll be changing to either Koni Adjustables or Gaz coilovers in the future though.

Before i decided on just springs i was looking at getting coilies. Really want some Weitec's or KW's. More for the ride and stiffness, i would so try them at their lowest first! :p
 
my car is crying out to be lowered but i fear with just springs i will kill the shocks as it needs to go at least 50mm and i cant afford new shocks/dampers/coilovers :(

30-40mm is more than you think when it's been done. Be careful though because on old shocks they will get knackered.
 
If I ever change my shocks to GMAX or whatever else(thats uprated, not the standard VX ones) at a later date will the car sit even lower?

If they are adjustable then yes. If not, you'll have to see what their rated at.
 
my shocks have done 137k and im on lowering springs, go over bumpy crappy roads everyday:eek: they likely to last much longer?:(:(

May do, another cousin of mine had a mk4 golf with lowering springs and his rear shocks were shot. That hadn't done very many miles.

Depends were you live though, down in cornwall the roads are horrendous in some places.

Possibly but it will be bouncy as hell!

The shocks on my old astra had done 130k with lowered springs. It was fun going round corners felt like the car was going to roll sometimes.
 
in an hour, wow lol

took me and my mate 6 hours on my mondeo, but we had no air tools to compress the springs, and mondys are very hard to work on compared to other cars..

You don't need air tools to compress springs, and Mondeos are not hard to work on :confused:
 
no mk3 mondeos are hard to work on

the shockers and mouted to the wheel hub or whatever its called in a gay way, they take ages to get out,

we didn't have a ball joint splitter either so they were hard to take out

without using a air impatch gun you gotta compress the springs with a ratchet that takes ages

Are the dampers on the Mk3 mounted where the damper leg slides down into the hub and then you do up a pinch bolt? If so then yes, they are much harder than on Golfs for example where you just offer up the hub to the damper and bolt it in place. You often have to sledgehammer the hub down to get it free of the damper.

As for the spring compressors, don't be soft :p Eat some spinach and get those arms pumping (use a ratchet spanner - much less cumbersome than a ratchet)
