lowest vcore

but money is more of a factor :)

Paradisiac has an i7 cpu, a x58 MB, DDR3-1866 and a 42" LCD TV, that's already a sizeable investment that he really needs to maximise the potential from it.

If not watercooling, then perhaps any of the larger cases with enough height clearance for a tower heatsink/fan.

...or cut out a 120mm hole to mount a H50 with a fan guard.

However power is not constant, and decreasing voltage will decrease power used.

/facepalm

I knew there was an argument but only heat would come to mind. :p

If I can find some software to find my i5's VID I'm tempted to undervolt to lower temps, however it's too much hassle to adjust voltages down.

I have a suspicion I've oversimplified/lied above, but I can't remember any more detail than that. Don't think it's too far off the mark though.

Regarding undervolting, boot on stock settings, load cpu-z. That's your vid. Go to the bios, set it to something lower, test to see if you're still stable. If you pass, decrease it more, retest. Hassle?

My voltage seems to fly all over the place on stock settings hence why I asked. I've seen it move between 1.0v and 1.2v

If I set a specific voltage though, it stays at that level comfortably.

EDIT:
I guess there's an option somewhere that's making all the voltages go haywire... meh if I get a few days where I have nothing better to do I'll work out some undervolting.
