every time my mate boots his pc he get the message object name not found and cant get in to windows xp.
i belive this to be a virus is there any solution plz.

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode ?

or press F8 and pick " last good known configuration " or something like that?

How about scanning the PC offline using a UBCD4Win CD?

You can build a CD with the latest definitions for a number of free AV tools, instructions are given on the site and there's a helpful forum if you get stuck.

looks like a reinstall
