Basically I have an extra omega, which is being stripped of bits not needed and using it as a (crap slow but cheap) track car between me and a few mates for a laugh, however just found out it has a Limited Slip Differential (is this LSD?) I've been offered £200 for it (plus swap for normal one) which would pay for the cost of car..

So what does it do and should I keep it keeping in mind its for the track/fun rather than everyday use.

Cheers steve!

If you are keeping it for use on the track, keep the LSD.

An LSD (or Limited Slip Diff) will help to stop the car from spinning up the inside wheel when the car starts to lose traction.

Odd's are it won't be a hugely strong LSD and will only have a low % lockup, but it'll certainly help with traction on the track.

I'm going to go against the grain here, and say if someone has offered you that much, then swap it. Unless you are drifting it won't make a huge difference to your lap times if you're under say, 200bhp.

£200 will go nicely towards some track tyres, or a suspension kit - which will make a much better addition to a "standard" track car than an LSD.

yes but getting a similar lsd could be a nightmare (i know nothing about these cars) and after market ones are damn pricey

I'd keep it. Personally I like the Omega with the exception of them all being Autos. RWD and reasonably good fun = okish track car! Especially in 3.0 V6 guise :o

The main reason went for an omega as well had a few now, also use one as daily car, change the engine on one and they are fairly simple.

Might swap the LSD tbh, been quite a gold mine this car.. £250 to buy, swap the leather interior with mine, sold the alloys for £200 as they were mint popular ones then with the LSD sale would be £150 up with a nice leather interior in the daily caR!

id keep the LSD for pure laughs on track, You bought it to be a track car? not to make money surely?

I dont know why I bought it tbh, it was a cheap good car, then a few mates said about doing a track so thought why not. Swapped the leather with my car (sounds odd but this is a saloon while mine is a more pratical estate) sold a few other bits we wouldnt need and now this offer..

So far going through the proper list I've already made money out of it as forgot a few items;

Leather swap Worth £100

Cost £250
CD Multichanger system with phone £120
Tow Bar £50
MV6 Alloys £200 (already got a spare alloys set from crashed omega)
Total Costs : -£120 or -£220 if I include the swap with leather

So prob will keep it for now as the car owes me nowt, after all they are sought after on omega forums so I can always sell it on afterwards.
