lulwut windscreen fail

The local depot were useless and told me to go and 'get some quotes' and didn't seem to understand the concept of 'You damaged my car, here is the bill'.

Head office were utterly brilliant and agreed straight away.

I wonder how the head office dealt with the installer in the end. They must have lost enough through this that it wouldnt have simply been ignored.

Obviously depends how often he's damaged cars, everyone makes mistakes.

The whole saga was ridiculous though..what with smashing the old screen before checking the new one, and then offering to drive the car with NO screen to the depot in the rain.

Beggars belief!

Plus, leaving your car running with AC on for most of the day?

Sillyness!

You'd be surprised how fast moisture vaporises out of a fabric in a very dry environment.

I bet it would take less value of fuel than the rental of a dehumidifier.

Chip in my windscreen was annoying. Call windscreen people, who say no problem, we can replace it, we'll order the screen!

They turn up today, remove my old screen (Cracking it in the process) then the guy says ooops, I've got the wrong screen. Never mind, I'll come back tommorrow with the right one as we've got to order it in for you.

And off he goes, leaving me with a car with no windscreen

LULWUT?

I was close to this last year until i spotted the lack of rear view mirror mount bit, the guy was telling me how the UK spec MK1 mx5 has the mirror on the frame and that my car must not be a UK spec car.

I pulled out my iphone and showed him pictures of lots of UK spec cars with rear ies on the windscreen and lots of roadster Images with the rear view on the frame. He thought he knew more than I did about my own car, just because he knows how to fit a windscreen. What a tool.

Driving to the depot with no windscreen in the rain paints a rather amusing mental picture however, I can just imagine 2 people driving around with waterproof macs, goggles and hats on.. :D

Only if your car has AC in the first place however... plus I had a dehumidifier in the house already. If you have AC already and no dehumidifier, then I'm sure AC will do the trick. So just use whatever you have! :p

I tried an electric heater first, it used around 20 times the power, and didn't work as well, plus it felt like my interior was going to melt! Dehumidifier = win.

Now... I just need to find the leak, I think it may be from the tailgate... :(

what car is it?

Pug 205, they did do a model with AC (STDT) but these are pretty rare, it's the sort of car that isn't known for it's creature comforts. ;)

I'm going to try putting vaseline on the rear window seals, these are known to be a common leak source...
