Hi,

I currently work at McDonald's and as you can imagine I really dont want to be having my lunch from there every shift, (I'm only there 2-3 times a week as I'm at college too) but across from me is an asda. I thought this was the best place to post to get some good ideas on what I could buy for lunch, as opposed to eating burgers and fries.

Also I am going to the gym doing resistance work so looking for high protein food .

Thanks,

Packed lunch seems the best idea.

If not then do you have access to a microwave your allowed to use to heat things up with?

I guess I could take a packed lunch, and @IndigoGorilla Yes, i'd have access to a microwave

Well home made meals will be a good idea then. Cook things in bulk and then have a few portions for work. Packed lunches as in sandwichs, yoghurt and fruit etc are also a good idea as well.

If your shopping at ASDA and leaving food at work then how about:

A loaf of bread (wholemeal / seeded variety will be best).
Sandwich fillings (cold meats / egg mayo / tuna mayo).
For Sandwich fillings as well ASDA also do hot ready cooked chicken which could also be used for other meals or shredded with salad.
Salad vegetables and some dressings. (Peppers / Tomatoes / Lettuce / Carrot / Cucuber / Spring Onion etc).
Microwave Rice packs with meat added and some extra veg or fruit etc.
Bagels with fillings. (meats / cream cheese and salmon / peanut butter).

Just a few ideas of things easy to do while at work there.

In terms of home meals than you can cook the following:

Curry (not the best for health though unless your careful).
Sheperds/Cottage Pie.
Pasta - Very adaptable and can add many things to make it interesting and use different shapes. (Spag Bol / Penne / Lasagne as a treat?).
Stews - Plenty of veg and use cheap cuts of eat.
Frittatas / Spanish Omelette.
Chicken with rice and veg.

Some ideas for you there mate. :)

If your lifting to increase mass why you eating the junk in the first place :(

My point was that I don't want to be eating the junk???

Will give it a good read and some thought in morning :)

Don't you get Maccy D's for free on shift? I'd be finding an awesome IIFYM solution tbh, like a quadruple cheeseburger or something.

Thanks,

Those were the days, working at McDonalds at 16 and eating it 2 times a day :D

Asda shopping list:

1 large bun
Butter
large steak
Salad
Tomato
Relish, ketchup or McD's BBQ sauce :D

Then go back to work and prep that in the staffroom

Oh and served with chips and washed down with a can of dandilion and burdock.

Yum

Yes I do, as tempting as it is probably not the best idea :D

Hot counter, whole chicken :) Look like a beast eating it with you bare hands!

I do like chicken. :)

Nice.

Make a big chili at home (enough to last a few days) and reheat in the microwave.

or

A big portion of chicken, cooked and diced, mixed with a bit of curry mayo served with two boiled eggs and a salad with olive oilve and balsamic vinegar.

They're the lunches I alternate between. Both pack in a decent amount of cals if the portions are big enough.

I love fresh good quality mayo

Couldn't you choose one of the healthier options from McD's and add chicken to it.

Premium Caesar
Salad with Grilled
Chicken

Looks alright on the mcdonalds nutrition site and not overly packed with salt like most take-away items. 27g protein as well and since you get it for free you can always add a tad more chicken!!
