LV refusing to insure Honda Jazz due to catalytic converter theft vulnerability.

Not sure what cars or parts come from the Ukraine.

Sound like the usual BS, blame whatever is currently going on for big price hikes (which never drop afterwards ofc). But announce the biggest profits ever at the end of the year. Same as energy and oil companies...

40% is probably as you say, and has been shown with the gas supplies, inflated because supply/demand has been changed.

From the article:

... catalytic converter – made of precious platinum, palladium and rhodium metals – is easy to access and strip off due to the car’s higher ground clearance.

The invasion of Ukraine has also caused the price of parts to soar as 40pc of the world’s palladium is located in Russia.

Nice to be dictacted to on what car you can drive.
To flip that around, you could argue that an insurer should not be dictated to that they must offer to cover vehicles they consider high risk. If there was only one insurer then yes it would be dictating what car you drive, but in this case you can still drive that car, you just can't expect them to cover you.

Insurers seem to have put in much stricter policies recently. Anything remotely risky is a nope. The whole insurance cartel needs dismantling.

On the plus side, there are loads of nearly new Range/Land Rovers coming up for sale in the London area with massive discounts lol. Why you'd want one though I don't know; a giant liability on wheels.

I'd rather drive a 15 year old Nissan Micra.

I'm not joking either.

When the war first kicked off, some manufacturers had delays in their production due to supply issues from the Ukraine. Toyota, Ford, BMW, Hyundai, Renault and Skoda were all affected. Even my BMW in build was delayed.

You would think by now they would have sourced alternative parts from the rest of the world though
