lying on your CV

have decided to apply for job seekers and back date the claim for 4 weeks. i'm the sort of person that usually doesnt except hand outs from anyone (why ive not applied before) but ive got to the stage where i've all but given up. now i'm just gonna site back and take it easy for a bit and make the most of the time off so i can get my CCNA done. the job seekers money should cover the exam fees then i can getting cracking on the CCSP :)

ive got a job and start monday

i see why people get stuck on job seekers allowance because they pay your rent, council tax and £60 a week. i even put in a back dated claim so i'd have enough to put together something similar to this :)

How did you answer those questions? I really just don't see how having too many qualifications is a bad thing.

It can be if you are applying for low skilled summer work. Employers want non-fussy working grunts, rather than someone who is ten times more clever than them fussing over when they are allowed to take breaks.

I recently lied on my CV to get bar work. I removed my degree and lied that I had previous experience. Bars seem to reject you without previous experience, which puzzles me. How do you get the damn experience in the first place?

I had that experience once, applied for a part time job in Habitat as a sales assistant when I was doing my post grad, didn't even get an interview even when i have working experience in both office and sales.

The thing is if i had left it out, there would be like 4 years missing of what I had been doing.

How on Earth have you been a member here so long and still posted that, are you purposely on a wind up?

i'm doing nothing wrong, if no one wants to give me a job i'm entitled to claim for job seekers allowance. i've passed all the criteria needed although they said i'll need a good reason to back date the claim. i applied for all this before i got the job and takes 6 weeks to process so i'd have been working 4 weeks before the payment goes through

ok now i've established that i can remove certs from my cv, the next question: is this a good idea ?

Depends on bit on the type of job you are applying for, but it could be more trouble than it's worth. Especially if it then leaves 'gaps' in your career history, e.g. leave off doing a degree, but weren't fulltime employed during those 3 years (obviously). That sets alarm bells ringing.

As mentioned, you can have too many qualifications in the sense that for low-end jobs, employers get worried about you moving on quickly to something better. My first job after uni was paying £10k/year and my boss quizzed me on this in my interview.

I don't think the money is provided so that you can spend it on computer accessories.
