Booted PC and noticed the m.2 drive on which my OS is installed, which is in M_2 slot only gets recognised on 1st cold boot,
Once Im in windows it fails and upon entering bios its not recognised.
A quick google suggests VMD settings need to be disabled but they already are.
I wonder wth is going on?
I could switch m.2 slots and see if its the same result.
However googling suggests these drives despite being pitched as high end exhibit this behaviour.
Very annoying to re-install OS
Any idea welcome, thanks!

Looking in the manual, M_1 is run off the CPU. M_2 and M_3 are from the chipset.

I would say a OS drive needs to be in M_1.

So swap it over and go into bios to make sure it is going to boot from that drive.

It shouldn't make any difference which slot it's in... I think I read somewhere that gen 5 drives might theoretically run faster in the primary slot.. Depending on the board but it should still work fine.. Can't hurt to move it or re-seat it though to rule that out ?
