m.2 drive for primary use (OS+games)

Personally I'd get one with dram, in fact all my ssd's (nvme and sata) have dram and is a major factor of which ones I have picked.
I'm running 2TB Seagate Firecuda 530 nvme (with built in heatsinks) and Crucial mx500 sata for reference

@mickyflinn That's the reason I'm asking about this particular drive, apparently there's not much difference between this SN770 and DRAM drives

Exactly if you want to pay extra then go for dram drive but for me price to performance is big factor and realistically would you notice the drop in performance compared to others.

Sometimes you can just over think when it comes to choices the sn 770 is a no brainer at That price.

Same here with price/perf. I might just go with this drive and if bad comes worst I can always get another one when 2tb will be <£100.

Would you put heatsink on this drive? P5 I've got now came with heatsink but this one doesn't by the look of it.
With both drives being underneath graphics card will it not add heat to it?

No I wouldnt it mite void the warranty , just monitor it and update the firmware when you get it.

How would it void warranty?
You can get ones that have to be stuck to the drive which could damage any stickers or the chips when removing the HS from the drive.

The ones that are clamped around the drive should be fine though.

Example below.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £19.69 (includes delivery: £8.70)

Are you planning to replace your existing M.2?

I would keep your OS as is and use the SN770 purely as a game drive.
