Hi all and sorry for the potentially stupid question but I have never used M.2 drives before.

I currently have a gigabyte aorus elite V2 rev 1.1 AM4 motherboard with 2 slots for NVMe drives, I have ordered a WD_Black SN770 1tb and a Samsung 980 500gb

My questions are:

A) Will using both these slots disable any of my sata ports, I have tried to find this information but the manual doesn't mention it so I assume I'd be good to go

B) Are they simply plug and play? I won't be wanting to put an OS on them or anything literally just use for storage, games mostly.

They shouldn't disable any SATA ports. If you put SATA drives in those M.2 slots then it's a different story.

You'll need to initialise them in Disk Management, create a partition on each then format them. Just the same as adding a new HDD.

Guessing your motherboard is b550 you want to put the m2 into the pcie4 m2 slot to get the best speed from your sn770.

Presuming the 980 is pcie3

Usually the top m2
