Spec-ing a new build & was wondering if any advantage, performance wise going for a M.2 SSD instead of a SATA SSD? Currently looking at 120GB Samsung 850 EVO series offerings.

Also have a 3-year old SanDisk Extreme SSD 120GB, would a newer gen SSDs be significantly/noticeably faster or can I keep it & (re)use in new build?

Its currently installed in a AMD FX spec PC. New PC will be Skylake i5.

You will not see it real world and windows 10 will not make any difference. In bench marks yes. If you are on a budget just get a 256gb 850 EVO SSD for a boot drive.
