Looking to create a fairly quiet M-ATX build to sit in the living room based around the 7800X3d. What would you change and why?

Thanks,

Nothing, but you could squeeze in 64GB with a few tweaks:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,179.80 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Cooler: this (under £50).

FYI: you might want to check that you need a drive with a heatsink, doesn't need the Mortar have them both under the board's heatsink?

Thankyou! I read the 6000mhz ram with tighter timings is a better buy for these chips but does it not really make any difference in the real world? Any reason for going for the MSI PSU over the Bequiet one?

For a non-X3D, yes (it is a better buy). For an X3D, it is fine either way. This is my reference.

Any reason for going for the MSI PSU over the Bequiet one?

No. I just know it a little better (through reviews).

What is it doing to need 64 gig of ram??
32 meg is barely used my anything nowdays unless your playing a few very specific games or doing photo work/rendering/VM's.

The older version of the MSI psu was very well rated and recommended. This one still holds 10 year warrenty so I doubt its going to be inferior to the older model.

Just for clarity, it was only me that suggested this change (the OP had 32GB in their spec).

Thanks,
OP I have quite a similar setup to this, looks good. Except I have the MSI PSU as suggest above, Samsung 990 Pro, G.Skill 6000Mhz CL30 Ram and an Asus AP201 case. Motherboard has bios flashback which is handy and has built in WiFi. It is also one of the better performing micro-atx boards when Hardware Unboxed did his B650 motherboard testing.
