M-atx i5 anyone?

Oooooo I like that .....shiny!

./droool

No, no, and no, nothing wrong with mine, I paid close attention to how much I wanted to spend and stayed in budget, it's a good board and I shall not be lead unto temptation ...by shiny Asus floozies. My next purcahse is a new graphics card anyway, I'm just waiting for the new ones, then I'll wait a bit for the prices to settle and the reviews to come out, then consider my options.

How do you find the Lian Li V350 then Tute ?

It's a good case. It's nice to not have to work to the quite frankly silly 78mm restriction that Sugo cases have with CPU coolers.

Having said that, I should have got a black one. :(

Not sure if i'll go for something different with this build.

That looks very nice Tute :D

Yeah, i'm dreading the pricing a bit though. :)

I've got a black one and it look so much better than the silver one I have. Should have stuck with black from the start really. The V350 is a really good case, I love mine.

Sent you an email by the way. :)

Not quite SFF but anyone given any thought to mini-tower cases like the SilverStone TJ08 and Lian-Li PC-A05N, PC-A03 and PC-A06F?

Have to say I like the look of the PC-A03. Seems to have the better layout for an mATX mobo, with a PSU location that doesn't cramp the CPU area or disrupt airflow through the case like the A05N or A06F, and less cramped internally than the TJ08.

Don't find it too bad, the NT06 is still a big cooler its just not tall. It's enough space to get a water block and tubing too. It all comes down to what you want though, I prefered the looks of the SG03 and its dimensions over the V350 :)

Yeah I guess i've just been spoilt by my Mini-Ninja. It's a fabulous little cooler. I remember the headache of finding a good cooler for my SG01 and SG03. In the end I found the stock cooler was the best overall, and that's pretty poor.

Admittedly I never tried the NT06, but would it be able to cool something i5/i7 based? :)

Well it seems to do pretty well with my overclocked Q6600 running at 3GHz (i've not tried higher on this board/mobo/psu combination)
Considering the lack of airflow, and the air being ventilated out through the psu which has very slow moving fans it doesn't go over 65 on the cpu (used to go over 70 before I cleaned the front dust filters out that were completely blocking the intakes)
I'd like it cooler / clocked higher, but I don't think I'd get this volume level and temps on the intel stock coolers.

Wouldn't fancy the I5 in the SG03. My E8400 is 40C idle and over 60 under load (NT06-E).... so not sure it could take the I5 / quad core?

Going to sort out all the stuff I need to sell tomorrow.

So I will be ordering

1 x i5 750
1 x Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2
1 x G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (C8 kit)

Some time tomorrow along with maybe the H50 and just wait for a new mounting kit to come out.

:D

Assuming you mean an I5 750, then that setup you proposed is exactly what I am using, I have the C8 Ripjaw modules too. Works very well.

Anyone who is using the P55M-UD2 are you able to install intel matrix drivers?
I have tried both Vista 64 and W7 64 and I get BSOD everytime I install them. I also get BSOD if I install them before the OS :(

I haven't tried to be honest, but I do recall reading something last week about someone having similar trouble.

Edit: Oh I just searched for it, it was you :p ...so that wont be much help then.

lol yeah, I am really struggling with it! I use hot swap bays so really want to get it working.
Just installing W7 32bit to give that a try next! Must be driver related, I have tried so many different combinations.
Different Sata ports
Different HD's
With or without Sata DVDrom
Different OS'
Installing drivers before OS and After OS, Installing as IDE and switching once windows is installed.
I am stumped

I also went with a mATX Gigabyte build, using an i5750, 4gb ram and the Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 Intel P55. I have to say that it is a fantastic upgrade over my E8400 775 build. The only slight negative is the fact that I cannot use my Sounblaster X-Fi Xtreme gamer due to the fact I am using third party cooling on my Nvidia 275. The board before this posed no problem, but alas with mATX there is nearly always a comprimise.

Also, the factory heatsink comes with some thermal grease applied, do I need to put any more on? I shouldn't have thought so, but just asking in case.

Edit: This is with the GA-P55M-UD2 and a core i5 750

Edit2: Fixed the first problem, it's a bloody tight fit!
