Anyone heard of this female 'rap' artist? She seems to have quite a lot of African / South American vibes to her songs. I'm not too familiar myself, but I went along to a concert of hers this week and it was pretty fun, so I danced all over the place. Heres the youtube clip of a good song of hers:

Its irritatingly catchy and god knows what shes on about :D

Anyone know what album I should look at? I think shes quite good.
 
M.I.A stands for "Missing in Acton" (which is where she lives). Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam is her real name, she's the daughter of a Tamil militant from Sri Lanka. Heard about her a while back, when she released "Galang".

only reason i wanted to go see her live is because sinden is her tour dj though

i missed it anyway

A lot of people seem to like her but I don't get it. She can't sing, she can't rap and her lyrics are terrible. XL have hired some good producers for her records but no amount of polish does it for me. :(

The song in the OP does have awful lyrics, but its just funky and very very sexy. She's not bad on the eye either... her MC though... corrr! :eek::p
