How would I go about controlling fans on a MITX build with no drive bays? Anyone got any clues?? Obviously I don't want to run the fans at full tilt 100% of the time. Is there any way of controlling them that doesn't require a bay mounted controller?

Use a PWM fan splitter, very small board that you can hide behind your motherboard.

I use a Swiftech one to control five fans but there are others.

Uses a sata connection and other end plugs into the cpu fan header.

Do you have to import that swiftech?

Can't even find the Silverstone version here, which seems better as the ports are all on the side, no need to crush down the cables.

The Swiftech one was sold over here at one point, can't see it anymore.

I was looking for the Silverstone one also but no luck.

Could I not just get a 3-way cable splitter and plug it in to the motherboard CPU header?

Not ideal to let the motherboard header draw so much power depending on the fans used.

Also, ah, Khemist. Guess I'm importing the silverstone then. :(

you can get the phobya branded version of that pcb above from multiple uk retailers for a £5.

Ocuk really need to stock these, such a usefull bit of kit

Nzxt grid+ v2 would work if you could fit it (it's not huge without the plastic shell)

Or a PWM splitter if you are using PWM ports.

Or fan splitters from your mobo fan headers assuming you can control them.

I used a Corsair Link Commander Mini in my build a couple of weeks ago. It is a little larger than the one posted above but it's very versatile and the software lets you set them up in a variety of ways. It fits behind my motherboard tray with ease.

Not sure I can link to it but it is just Corsairs own product page so that should be alright?

Cheapest place to buy it seemed to be direct from them, arrived it a few days for me.

Got an email from Silverstone.

They can't sell the splitter because of patent issues in Europe. Damn it all.

Just order from ebay if you don't mind paying $14 shipping, £19 all in.

I shall!

Don't like the idea of squishing cables to get them fitted on the other designs, from the side is good.

btw Khemist, side question, I note you have 6 fans in your case. 3 intake 3 exhaust. How do you keep positive pressure?

Do you mean how do i keep the dust out?.

Even though the front 360 intake has a filter there are some other holes on either side that do suck in dust.

Also since the rad is offset at the top, when the pc is off there is dust that falls into the case even though i have the front moduvent still installed.

I'm not really bothered though, i give it a bit of a clean inside every other week when i'm hoovering the filters.

Ah fair, yeah that's what I meant. Figured you'd want to go positive pressure to stop a lot of dust falling into the case.

Since I just have a CPU AIO rad, would it be better for me to stick it in the front as an intake and then install all the moduvents on the top?
