M&S have dropped a clanger

pointed this out nearly 100 posts ago but its the weekly anti muslim thread so let the crap flow.

Muslim leaders slam M&S over 'ridiculous' till policy: Influential figures say workers' veto 'beggars belief' as store apologises over affair

  • Muslim Council of Britain said situation should have been handled better
  • Others said allowing workers not to serve alcohol or pork was ridiculous
Inayat Bunglawala said: 'I have never come across a Muslim.. who would refuse to serve a customer'

Khola Hasan, a legal consultant who has advised the Islamic Sharia Council, told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: ‘I was quite dismayed when I heard this news about M&S. I’m just wondering how far till workers can go? Are they there to police what people are buying?

‘Will a till worker refuse to process a cake that has got champagne in it or a chocolate that has got brandy in it?

‘Muslims cannot eat any meat that is not halal, so will they refuse to process chicken or beef or lamb because it’s not halal? I don’t know how far we are going to go. I think it’s ridiculous.’

Miss Hasan said that Islamic law does not prohibit Muslims from selling alcohol in a supermarket.

I'm not surprised they're a bit miffed by it - seemingly one Muslim worker, M&S PR and the torygraph have now created a situation whereby all M&S Muslim workers could potentially be treated with suspicion by customers...
Say a bunch of customers don't queue for the M&S worker in a head scarf because they're buying Alcohol and now treat her with suspicion and think she might refuse to serve them.... etc... I'm sure she'll be left feeling really good about herself and not at all self conscious as a result of this...

The article posted earlier about islamaphobia is bang on [..]

The majority of Christians in the past were not raving dangerous extremists. That did nothing to stop Christians who were raving dangerous extremists running the show (most notably the Inquisitions) and having some degree of success in pushing Christians towards a more extremist stance (most notably the quite widespread support for witchhunts).

I used a different religion deliberately so that you couldn't dismiss an argument you can't counter by using buzzwords. Christianophobia isn't a buzzword with any power, so you're out of luck with that tactic.

A phobia is an irrational fear. Since this isn't irrational and isn't solely fear, it isn't a phobia.

But don't worry. You're far more likely to be successful by using potent buzzwords than you are by trying to create a counter-argument, so you are using the "best" course of action for your purposes.

The issue in my mind isn't muslims, it's the idiotic desire of some white, middle-class PC nut to accommodate needs that aren't even there. Common sense is flying out of the window these days. Treat the odd-one-out as they deserve to be treated and don't bend your rules around them.

On one occasion, it is recorded that some Jews wanted Muhammad to decide how to deal with their brethren who had committed adultery

Yes, just like that one time a group of jews asked a roman fella named Pilate to help them out deciding what to do with one of their brethern who was speaking about God and not relying on the teaching of gob £&)(£s who were in it for themselves.
