Well finally done it, i have ordered a m11x r3

Specs are i5 , 4 gb ram etc in black.

I was going to go get a Sony vita , but i have a large amount of pc digital purchases. It seems a waste not to use them.
Will prob use the lappy more than a vita as well so hey ho .
been told delivery is estimated as 27th march , how likely is it to come before then >?

Thanks

Depends if Apple have purchased every last cm3 of cargo space to ship iPads. :)

Dell tend to beat their estimates, most of the time. Probably, Thursday it will be shipped, 24 hours to fly from China.

My guess Monday/Tuesday delivery, as long as its actually in production and not pre-production.

I just ordered mine this week too, estimated delivery is the 20th March.

Was going to go for the i5 but I got a deal with £200 off.

Did you get any discount on yours? Which warranty did you go for?

They are a fantastic little machine even capable of playing BF3 (on lowish settings) plus you can even game on batteries for a couple of hours with a bit of tweaking.

The only downsides with the laptop imho are:
screen quality - very glossy, not great brightness and poor contrast
fan control - there seems to be 3 settings, off, low high. High is pretty loud, this doesnt bother most people but I am sensitive to noise

Nps , i will post back on findings.

ref the screen i am tempted to put a lcd from a macbook air 11" in to the m11x , its the same family of screns , not sure if its possible?.

I went with standard warranty , used quidco and got £40 back>

As i said reason i went for this , is i am away a lot , i had a m15x for a while but was FAR to heavy to lug around. The Vita looked good , but i would not have a libary of games to chose from, where as , with the m11x , all my pc games ;)

ninja , does the auto settings in games work well with this , or is more tweaking better?

no, auto sets it too high if I remember. I kept native res and turned most settings to low or off and put textures on medium. That kept me over 30fps (plus I had the 540m overclocked to 800/1000 I think, sorry for being a bit vague, it was a while ago).

I was also tempted to put a mba screen in and it should be a straight switch but be careful the m11x front panel is stuck on and a lot of people have broken it whilst trying to remove it. In the end I just decided to sell it and use my mbp13, the gaming perf is rubbish in comparison but I only do low end games on small laptops, anything heavy I run on the m17x

Mine's just been shipped! Maybe here by the end of the week?

Just need to get that SSD on order now.............

Hi, I first purchased my M11x when they first came out. For what I played I only needed a fairly decent spec.

Its no good at all playing outside with the screen but thats fine I didnt mind.

I play Aion, Wow and others that dont take too much power to run.

It does heat up a lot but I now have it on a cooler stand just to be safe. But I have had it for a year now and both me and my brother use it when he comes round for games night ha-ha he goes on the laptop I go on my computer :)

I bought this and now I find that it is over priced :( But it is good for when I am travling and can be used in others houses, rather than bring my computer along with me.

Just got mine this morning. Shame I can't play with it as i've got to go out to work now!

I'm thinking of putting a Kingston 120GB SSD in mine, just waiting for some Paypal funds to come through first.

£885 is a good deal

I opted for the i7 processor instead of the SSD and the in home warranty option for 1year (I did'nt like the thought of Dell collecting it for repair).

As soon as i've got some more funds i'm going to replace the 750GB drive for a 120GB Kingston SSD. I think you've made a good choice because Dell will replace your SSD under warranty without hassle if it should ever go wrong.

only thing i'd say is wasnt the n1 killer wifi a waste of money? how much more was it than the standard intel wifi?
