M2 NVME PCIe v SATA SSD Comparison

I have 2 bog standard SSDs, an ancient 120GB one as a boot drive for Windows and a 500GB one for games (plus a 6TB mech drive for everything else).

The smaller SSD is going to die in the not too distant future so I was looking for anyone who can comment on the real world difference between an average SSD and say a Corsair MP510 NVME drive, is there really that much of a difference in say Windows boot times, bit of gaming, etc?

I was thinking about a small NVME for boot and say a 1TB SDD, but would it really make any difference to just haveing the 1TB SSD with Windows and games?

Reviews are all a bit abstract and I appreciate it's very much down to the user case, however any real world thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers, this was what I was expecting as a reply but it's nice to have other people reaffirm your suspicions

Ill probably just buy the best SSD I can afford at the time and that'll do me.

You should buy the largest SSD you can afford from a reputable brand.

Also your use dictates whether nvme is the wiser choice.
As mentioned above, there's negligible real world gains from sata3 SSD to a nvme ssd, which is correct if all you are doing is gaming. In which case, a larger sata3 SSD is preferable to a smaller nvme ssd. Of course if you are able to source a nvme SSD of the same quality and size for the same price as a sata3 ssd, then go with the nvme drive...lol...
However if you're doing work that hammers the storage subsystem like video editing or same drive file copying, then nvme would be the wiser choice.

Yeah I actully meant biggest to be honest. And yeah I mainly just mess about on the internet and play games so SATA SSD would be fine.
